3 UPSC aspirants drown in Delhi coaching centre: Poor drainage, lack of desilting cited as likely causes

In a tragic accident at Rau’s IAS coaching centre in Old Rajender Nagar, Delhi, two students died after rainwater flooded the library in the basement. The mishap occurred on Saturday evening, trapping three students while 27 others managed to escape or were rescued. Multiple agencies, including NDRF, police, and fire brigade, initiated rescue operations. By late evening, the bodies of two girls were recovered. The incident sparked outrage about poor drainage and safety measures. Politicians blamed the local government for negligence in maintaining proper drainage systems, which could have prevented the flooding.
