Sri Lanka’s parliamentary election expensive than presidential poll

Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s recent victory has led to an early parliamentary election in Sri Lanka, costing 11 billion Sri Lankan rupees which is up from 10 billion rupees from presidential polls. Dissolving Parliament 11 months ahead of schedule, Dissanayake diverges from former president Ranil Wickremesinghe’s plans to delay elections due to economic constraints and prioritize financial recovery.
