Following orders from a special court for elected representatives, Bengaluru police have filed a criminal case against Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other officials. They are accused of extorting thousands of crores through electoral bonds. The case was prompted by an RTI activist’s complaint earlier this year seeking investigation into the matter.
