The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has directed food businesses and e-commerce players to stop using ‘A1’ and ‘A2’ labels on milk products, calling them misleading. Current regulations do not recognize this beta-casein protein differentiation. Companies are given six months to exhaust pre-printed labels, with no extensions allowed.
