Hardeep Puri, minister for petroleum and natural gas, announced the expansion of Assam’s Numaligarh Refinery from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA, with completion expected by 2024. A 1,640 km pipeline from Paradip Port to Numaligarh is also under construction for transporting imported crude. The project, costing Rs 28,026 crore, was environmentally cleared in July 2020.
