Bangladesh High Court reduced the life sentence of Ulfa leader Paresh Baruah to 14 years and five others to 10 years for their attempt to smuggle arms in 2004. The court had earlier commuted their death sentences to life imprisonment. The illegal arms, intended for separatist groups in northeast India, included grenades, rocket launchers, and submachine guns.
