Dalit and tribal organisations, supported by opposition parties, observed a Bharat bandh on Wednesday against the Supreme Court’s verdict on sub-classification of Scheduled Castes. The protest significantly disrupted normal life in Bihar and Jharkhand, with around 10,000 people participating in Patna alone. Protests also occurred in Gujarat’s tribal belts, while Uttar Pradesh was largely unaffected.
