Only Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse rivals Bugs Bunny as the most popular cartoon character of all time, Britannica.com said.  

From time to time, Bugs Bunny appeared with other animated protagonists such as Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, and most frequently his nemeses were Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam, the same source recounted.

China has once again extended its policy of censorship and surveillance as it looks to keep artificial intelligence (AI) models in check even as it races to advance the ever-expanding technology.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has introduced more regulative measures to make sure its home-based tech companies adhere to the party’s ideological rules. 

All AI firms are required to participate in a government review which analyzes the companies’ large language models (LLMs) to ensure they “embody core socialist values,” as first reported by the Financial Times last week.

China has long worked to suppress information accessible over the internet through the use of its “Great Firewall” — which has been used to block a litany of items perceived as bad for the CCP, such as information surrounding the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre or memes comparing Chinese President Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh. 

This firewall is being extended to the AI arena as China rushes to advance its technologies while still governing the content it creates. 

China’s Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) is now requiring AI companies like ByteDance, Moonshot and 01.AI to take part in a review process that analyzes how effectively their programs are censoring the LLMs they are building.

Chatbot systems are being developed to not only collect sensitive keywords but to also block information on questions relating to banned topics, often involving queries relating to human rights. 

The AI systems in turn spit out responses like “try a different question” or “I have not yet learned how to answer this question. I will keep studying to better serve you.”

But in a move to prevent the chatbots from blocking too many questions, CAC policies dictate that LLMs should not reject more than 5% of all questions, according to the Financial Times report. 

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

Instead, blanket answers deemed politically correct have been created to answer specific types of questions, though controlling LLMs responses is an uphill battle for developers. 

China’s continued pursuit to control the narrative among its own population speaks to a greater threat, AI expert Arthur Herman, senior fellow and director of the Quantum Alliance Initiative with the Hudson Institute, told Fox News Digital.

“That is the future that China has charted for its own citizens,” Herman said. “This is also how they see… being able to control the world of others.”

Herman pointed to China’s burgeoning relationship with the global south, where social media platforms like WeChat have taken off.

“There will inevitably be a social control, a mind control, element that goes into those programs… and to shape a world that looks more and more like China wants it to look,” he said.

Herman also warned that these strategies are not only playing out on internet platforms in authoritarian nations, but anywhere that the platforms are accessible, including the U.S.

“They have mastered the art of brainwashing through TikTok,” Herman said. “Chinese engineers have found a way to create a social media platform which is highly addictive, and which is also highly geared towards brainwashing its users to see the world in a certain way and to respond to visual and audio cues in a certain way.”

Herman said China’s use of TikTok technologies is just a “foretaste” of how Beijing can use AI applications to manipulate populations beyond its borders.

“China sees AI as a means by which to change people’s minds,” he said. “AI’s ability to enhance those kinds of brainwashing and mind control applications is so powerful…that even when you’re not actually under a surveillance camera, even when you’re not actually listening to or watching government-inspired propaganda… there are other subtler ways in which your mind is being changed and adjusted simply by your interaction with things that are taking place in daily life — which are more and more directed by how the Communist Party wants you to see the world.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, called on Oakland officials Friday to amend an “extreme” policy that generally only allows police to chase suspected criminals in cases of “violent forcible crimes.”

The governor sent a letter to Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, the Oakland City Council and the Oakland Police Commission urging them to reconsider the Oakland Police Department (OPD) policy that limits officers’ ability to pursue suspects.

“Although some California jurisdictions allow vehicle pursuits for only certain crimes (e.g., felonies), Oakland is an outlier by imposing exceptional restrictions on OPD’s ability to police criminal activity, generally permitting pursuits only for ‘violent forcible crimes,’ as defined in OPD’s policy, and crimes involving firearms,” Newsom wrote. 

The letter said that, unlike most other jurisdictions in the state, local police in Oakland are prohibited from pursuing people suspected of committing various felonies and any misdemeanor, including those that are violent, as well as other offenses that endanger public safety, such as reckless driving, sideshow activity and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

“I am mindful of the sensitivities around vehicle pursuits, which can be dangerous to police, suspects, and innocent bystanders,” the governor wrote. “California’s Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training recognizes and addresses this in its standard-setting guidance. But there is also extreme danger to the public in allowing criminals to act with impunity, and the reckless driving associated with sideshows and other criminal acts is a significant threat to public safety — as witnessed regularly by the public in viral videos and news coverage.”

This comes after Newsom’s recent move to increase California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Oakland to conduct surge operations targeting organized crime, sideshows, carjackings and other criminal activity.

Newsom said the move quickly produced several arrests of suspects accused of committing these crimes. Two days after the governor’s announcement, the CHP used ground and airborne assets to conduct a surge operation targeting sideshows. Several vehicle pursuits through that operation led to five felony arrests, eight DUIs, the recovery of eight stolen vehicles and the seizure of two guns.

“In the course of the CHP’s operations, however, they have observed, based on their professional law enforcement experience and expertise, certain dynamics that are contributing to Oakland’s public safety challenges,” Newsom wrote in the letter. “In particular, the CHP has brought to my attention that they observed criminals often fleeing with impunity because it’s common knowledge that the Oakland Police Department’s (‘OPD’) pursuit policy allows vehicle pursuits in only very limited circumstances.”

Newsom said CHP observed suspects attempting to avoid arrest by using the same routes, meaning that the suspects knew where OPD would stop chasing them. But, the governor said, the suspects were unable to avoid the six pursuits initiated by CHP, which had a number of resources available to them, including air support.

“Any policy on vehicle pursuits must be clear-eyed in balancing the risks and benefits involved,” Newsom’s letter read. “Because of Oakland’s public safety challenges and the degree to which OPD’s pursuit policy is an outlier among California law enforcement agencies, I support the recent action by the City Council to direct a review of this policy.

“I urge you to reconsider whether OPD should be permitted to pursue suspects in more circumstances to improve public safety in your city and to establish a process to evaluate whether OPD is making full use of its authority, including that granted under the existing pursuit policy, to protect public safety and enforce the law,” he continued.

Newsom concluded his letter by saying he is committed to improving public safety in Oakland and across California. He said there have been some recent improvements in public safety, but that officials “owe it to our communities to continue to search for solutions.”

Americans deserve the opportunity to ask questions of those who are seeking to lead their government.”

Unlike large public rallies, they are occasions for encounters on equal footing, and they are an education for the candidate as much as for voters.”

“Good leaders speak, and they listen. They welcome scrutiny. They accept responsibility. Ms. Harris now has a chance to demonstrate that she will be the kind of leader who deserves the nation’s support,” the Times later added.

Vice President Kamala Harris no longer supports a fracking ban, in a change in her stance during the last presidential election, her campaign said on Friday, according to a report. 

Before she dropped her bid for president in 2019 and joined President Biden’s ticket, she said in a CNN town hall “there’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking.”

“And starting with what we can do on day one around public lands, right?” she continued. “And then there has to be legislation, but, yes, that’s something I’ve taken on in California. I have a history of working on this issue and to your point we have to just acknowledge that the residual impact of fracking is enormous in terms of the health and safety of communities.”

Harris also cosponsored the Green New Deal as a senator in 2019, a proposal to stem climate change that includes a ban on fracking. 

TRUMP QUICKLY MOVES TO DEFINE HARRIS AS ‘MORE LEFT THAN BERNIE SANDERS’

“Climate change is real, and it poses an existential threat to us as human beings, and it is within our power to do something about it,” Harris said on the campaign trail that year before exiting the race, according to The New York Times. “I am supporting the Green New Deal.”

However, Biden’s campaign and his administration have not backed banning fracking despite Biden once saying during a primary debate “We would make sure it’s eliminated.” His campaign later clarified that he “supports eliminating subsidies for coal and gas and deploying carbon capture.”   

Since Biden announced he is dropping out of the race and endorsed Harris last Sunday, she has moderated some of her positions from her 2019 run, in which she embraced more progressive policies. 

Trump was quick to paint her as a “radical liberal” since she became the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Harris is the “most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history,” the former president told a rally crowd in Charlotte on Wednesday. 

Trump charged that Harris “has been the ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe. She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country if she ever gets the chance to get into office.”

“Trump’s false claims about fracking bans are an obvious attempt to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the expense of the middle class,” the campaign told The Hill. “The Biden-Harris Administration passed the largest ever climate change legislation and under their leadership, America now has the highest ever domestic energy production,” the spokesperson said in an email. “This Administration created 300,000 energy jobs, while Trump lost nearly a million and his Project 2025 would undo the enormous progress we’ve made the past four years.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Mike Marinella, said, “Kamala Harris is the most far-left progressive presidential nominee in history, and extreme Democrats in the Rust Belt now own every single policy she supports.”

He added, “A fracking ban would be disastrous for workers and families, and extreme Democrats’ mission to force Biden to step aside and replace him with San Francisco radical Kamala Harris shows exactly how out of touch they are with their voters.”

The plan is working out for the Green Bay Packers.

The franchise selected Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft to eventually succeed Aaron Rodgers.

Love was thrown into the fire after the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets, and his first full season was a success.

Love has reportedly parlayed that into a historic extension. Love and the team reportedly agreed to a four-year extension worth $220 million.

The $55 million annual salary ties him with Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow for the highest ever, and the $220 million is the most given in a four-year deal, surpassing the reported deal Tua Tagovailoa agreed to with the Miami Dolphins earlier Friday.

Love also got a $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in guaranteed money.

He is now the eighth quarterback with an annual salary of $50 million, all of whom have been signed since last year. He joins Tagovailoa, Lawrence, Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, Jared Goff and Lamar Jackson.

This comes after the Packers media relations team abruptly ended Love’s media session at training camp after a reporter asked about his contract situation. 

Love also was not going to practice until a deal was reached, but it appears he’ll be back on the field soon.

Love started out strong, throwing three touchdowns in each of his first two games of the 2023 season. He cooled off, throwing just six touchdowns and eight interceptions over his next six games.

But from Week 10 onward, he was dominant. Including the postseason, in his final 11 games, he threw for 2,905 yards and 25 touchdowns and completed 67.9% of his passes.

Love and the Packers earned the seventh seed in the NFC and walloped the second-seeded Cowboys in Dallas.

The Packers led the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers, 21-14, late in the third quarter of the divisional round, but the Niners fought back to win.

If there was one thing we learned from the Biden administration, it’s that the best way to fight misinformation is with musical numbers.

It is in that spirit that I would like to take a look at the three most glaring and horrifying examples of blatant disinformation peddled to the American people in Vice President Kamala Harris’ six-day-old presidential campaign. Not just by showing the obvious lies, but with a few new versions of popular show tunes we can all sing along to and share.

The most obvious example is Democrats and the media’s stunning 180 on whether Harris was Joe Biden’s border czar. She was. The same way that John Kerry was climate czar and Bill Bennett was once education czar. It’s a term of art, not an official, literal appointment to Russian royalty.

Joe Biden put Harris in charge of stemming the tide at the border, several times, and it’s on tape. Republicans aren’t just making it up and the media had no problem at all calling the vice president the point person for the border. Now suddenly, it’s not true.

So for this bit of misinformation I went with the Gene Autry classic written in 1939 by Michael Carr and Jimmy Kennedy, “South of the Border Down Mexico Way.”

The next tremendous lie I wanted to tackle was that somehow, in just two and a half days, Kamala Harris “earned” the nomination through a vigorous, “grassroots” and “bottom up” effort. To hear good ol’ Chuck Schumer and the liberal media tell it, tens of millions of Democratic voters showed up at their local Elks Lodge or something and held straw polls. In fact, to this day, nobody has voted for Kamala for president except the party bosses.

Here I decided to go with the 1924 classic by Isham Jones and Gus Kahn, that we all remember Dooley Wilson playing in “Casablanca:” “It Had to Be You.”

It had to be Kamala

The voters be damned, the bosses demand

Finally, there is the little matter of Govtrack, a supposedly neutral website removing a past page accurately calling Harris the most liberal senator. All the while, her Wikipedia page is being scrubbed. And God knows what other information is being furiously erased in Orwellian fashion. It is the rewriting of history right before our eyes and they aren’t even trying to hide. Gone is the old leftist Kamala; in is the new moderate version.

The natural selection from the American songbook here is the Rogers and Hammerstein number “Wash that Man Right Out of My Hair,” from the musical “South Pacific.”

We all have a role to play to fight misinformation. But as a former disinformation czar in the Biden administration taught us, there’s no reason we can’t do it with a song in our heart.

The NBA rejected a bid from Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to exercise its right to match an offer from Amazon for a part of the league’s 11-year, $76 billion media rights deal Wednesday.

Less than 48 hours after the announcement, WBD, TNT’s parent company, filed a lawsuit under seal in New York County Supreme Court.

Charles Barkley, the Hall of Famer and longtime co-host of TNT’s popular “Inside the NBA,” reacted to the company’s failed attempt to renew media rights. 

“Clearly the NBA has wanted to break up with us from the beginning. I’m not sure TNT ever had a chance,” he wrote in a statement. In June, Barkley revealed his intention to retire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 NBA season. On Friday, he hinted he was open to other opportunities.

“I have spoken to all three networks. … I have spoke to three networks,” Barkley said Friday during an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show.” 

When Patrick asked whether Barkley would follow through with his retirement plans since he was fielding calls from other media companies, the NBA legend said he was “going to listen” to what the networks had to say.

“First of all, I’d be stupid not to take their call, but the beauty of this situation … I don’t have to make any decision for a year, Dan,” Barkley said. “But I told all three networks, ‘Hey I’m honored. I’m flattered that ya’ll want to talk to me, but let’s see what happens in a year.”

In May, the Sports Business Journal reported that Barkley has a clause in his contract that allows him to go elsewhere once the network’s NBA deal runs out.

Barkley confirmed the terms of his lucrative contract with TNT and revealed the deal is structured in a way that allows him to become a free agent once the 2024-25 NBA season ends.

“My deal is ten years, $210 million. Next year will be year three,” Barkley told Patrick. “Turner has to come to me today or next week and say, ‘Hey, we screwed up. Will you take a payout?’ So, they are going to have to guarantee the whole ten years, $210 (million), or they are going to have to ask me to take a pay cut, which, under no circumstances am I taking a pay cut. Zero chances of me taking a pay cut.”

He added that while he anticipates being a highly sought media personality next year, he also reaffirmed his intention to bring his broadcasting career to a close.

“But I don’t see them (TNT) guaranteeing it to be honest because they don’t really have anything. So, I think I’m going to be a free agent next summer. Right now, my intention is to retire.”

The terms of the new media rights agreements maintain broadcasting rights for Disney’s ABC and ESPN platforms, while also marking the return of NBA games to NBC and the introduction of games to the company’s Peacock streaming service. Amazon Prime Video also picks up a package of games slated to begin after the 2024-25 season.

However, the lawsuit from WBD signals that the battle for the NBA’s broadcasting rights could ultimately play out in a courtroom. WBD released a statement explaining its decision to file the suit.

“Given the NBA’s unjustified rejection of our matching of a third-party offer, we have taken legal action to enforce our rights,” WBD said in a statement. “We strongly believe this is not just our contractual right, but also in the best interest of fans who want to keep watching our industry-leading NBA content with the choice and flexibility we offer them through our widely distributed WBD video-first distribution platforms – including TNT and Max.”

Former President Trump announced to a crowd Friday night he “just took off the last bandage” from his ear after an attempted assassination nearly two weeks ago.

The Believer’s Summit, hosted by Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, focused on reaching voters of faith. Dr. Ben Carson, former HUD Secretary, preceded the former president.

“And we want to thank each and every one of the believers in this room for your prayers and your incredible support. I really did appreciate it,” Trump said.

The crowd roared with applause as the former president gestured to his injured ear.

“I just got it off,” he clarified. “I took it off for this group. I don’t know why I did that for this group, but that’s it. I think that’s it.”

Trump’s speech included attacks against his presumptive Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, calling the vice president “a bum.”

“Three weeks ago, she was a bum, a failed vice president and a failed administration with millions of people crossing. And she was the border czar. Now they’re trying to say she never was,” the former president said.

Dr. Ronny Jackson, the former White House doctor, released a letter earlier Friday offering an update on Trump’s health after the assassination attempt July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“I want to reassure the American people and the rest of the world that President Trump is doing extremely well,” Jackson said.

“He is rapidly recovering from the gunshot wound to his right ear. I will continue to be available to assist President Trump and his personal physician in any way they see fit and will provide updates as necessary and with the permission of President Trump.”

“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the FBI confirmed Friday to Fox News Digital.

Kai McKenzie, 23, was surfing off New South Wales in Australia when he was attacked by a shark, New South Wales police said. 

“Clinging to life, he was able to catch a wave back to the beach,” a fundraising site set up for McKenzie said. “A retired police officer used his dog’s lead as a tourniquet to stem the bleeding before the victim could be airlifted to hospital.”

Amazingly, McKenzie’s leg washed up on the beach after the attack and doctors are hoping to be able to reattach it. 

McKenzie has undergone surgery and remains in critical but stable condition, according to ABC News Australia and the fundraising site.

Luke Short, who makes McKenzie’s surfboards, told ABC they had all hoped “we heard it wrong.”

Kirran Mowbray of NSW Ambulance called McKenzie “courageous” during a 7News Sydney on-air broadcast. “He turned around, caught a wave into shore.”

She added that the off-duty officer “used the lead off a dog as a tourniquet to wrap around the young man’s leg and essentially saved his life.”

Kevin Young, vice president of Bite Club, a shark attack survivors club, told the broadcast: “And I know he lost a leg and they packed it with ice and they’re going down to try to reattach it. That just blows my brain that that might be possible.” 

Mid North Coast Police Chief Insp. Stuart Campbell said they would be working to try to find out what type of shark bit McKenzie.

MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend suggested she had a bad experience working for her ex-boss, Vice President Kamala Harris. 

Sanders-Townsend, who served as chief spokesperson and senior adviser for Harris before joining MSNBC in 2022, appeared with fellow Biden administration veteran-turned-fellow MSNBC host Jen Psaki to discuss the attacks against the new presumptive Democratic nominee and how she handles them.

“The thing about being the first is because you’re the first- whether you’re the first woman, first person of color, so on and so forth, folks just sometimes don’t know how to deal with you. They don’t know how to process it,” Sanders-Townsend began Thursday. “And so they resort to, unfortunately, sometimes racist, sexist tropes and memes and stereotypes.”

She continued, “There was one day at work where I was like ‘Ma’am, you might be the last woman I work for because this is- it’s a lot that we got to deal with over in here.”

“There’s a story there,” Psaki said with a chuckle.

“Because when you’re not aware, the last thing you want is your candidate, your principal, the vice president of the United States of America to be out there and someone says something and they’re like ‘Well what’s that all about?’ ‘Well, ma’am, we discussed that this morning at 10 a.m.'” she added.

“Yeah,” Psaki agreed. “I mean, it’s important for them to be aware, which is such an interesting thing. It’s how they respond to it.”

Christina Hall has spoken out for the first time since both she and Josh Hall filed for divorce on July 7.

On Thursday, the HGTV star took to her Instagram story to clarify reports that she was “blindsided” by her former husband’s decision to separate.

“Over here waiting for the typical Hired PR rep speech of ‘how I was blind-sided and how I’m working on myself and taking time to heal at her ranch’… Meanwhile I’m over here not as nice and quiet as I used to be….” the first part of Hall’s Instagram story read.

She continued, “I have worked my a– off to build this life for myself and my children and anyone who would try and take what they do not deserve/what they did NOT work for should be ashamed.”

“An insecure man with a large ego can sure try and derail you – but, ‘still I rise,'” Christina wrote. “For those that aren’t aware… divorces do not happen overnight.. & there is always a breaking point.”

Both Christina and Josh filed for divorce on July 7 in an Orange County, California, court, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

The “Flip or Flop” star and her estranged husband petitioned a court for a dissolution of marriage (divorce) citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Josh, a realtor, cited their date of separation as July 8, while Christina noted the former couple had separated the day before, on July 7.

The estranged couple’s date of marriage was listed as Oct. 6, 2021. 

Since filing for divorce earlier this month, Christina has accused her estranged husband of transferring $35,000 of her money into his personal bank account after their divorce filing, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

In the documents, Christina stated: “On July 21, 2024, I learned that on July 8, 2024, which is the day after I communicated to Josh that I would be filing for dissolution, Josh contacted my professional property manager via text and stated, ‘Hi. For June payments, can we please get it sent to a different account when it’s time? Thank you.'”

“The statement ‘can we please’ is not accurate as I had no personal contact with Josh on July 08, 2024. I would not have asked him to send himself my money the day after I told him we are getting divorced,” she continued. 

“Josh was able to divert over $35,000 of my separate property rental income into his account,” Christina added. “I am asking for Josh to account for the funds taken and return them to me as those funds are specifically used to pay any loans, obligations, property taxes, insurance, and maintenance for these rental properties.”

In the new documents, Christina stated that she was “shocked and concerned” at Josh’s actions the day after their divorce filing.

“The fact that this is the same date he now alleges to be our date of separation, even though it is actually July 7, 2024, makes it clear why he chose the next day,” she stated. “It makes me wonder what else I am not aware of as it relates to his financial situation and that is why I am having a full forensic accounting performed for the entire term of our marriage.”

Additionally, Christina stated that her ex “should not need” spousal support as he has his own source of income.

“I understand that at some point this court may require that I pay some spousal support to Josh and reasonable attorney’s fees to his counsel,” she stated. “However, it is my belief that this is a simple case with straightforward accounting over a short period of time, any fees and costs should be minimal.”

“Like all hard-working mothers, my life revolves around my children and my work. It is my understanding that Josh has his own income and therefore he should not need any spousal support from me,” she added. 

Christina’s union with Joshua marked her third marriage.

The “Christina on the Coast” star finalized her divorce from her second husband, Ant Anstead, in June 2021. The former couple share custody of their 4-year-old son, Hudson. 

She split from her first husband, Tarek El Moussa, in May 2016. Their divorce was finalized two years later. The exes share two children: daughter Taylor and son Brayden.

Multiple individuals have been charged with murder and other crimes in connection to the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade in February.

This week, one of the juveniles was sentenced to a Missouri state Department of Youth Services facility, The Associated Press confirmed. The 15-year-old, whose full name was not made public due to his age, said the events on Feb. 14 outside of Kansas City’s Union Station were not an accurate representation of who he is.

“That is not who I am,” the teen, who was referred to as “R.G.” in court documents, said at a hearing on Thursday. However, he did admit to the charge of “unlawful use of a weapon by knowingly discharging or firing a firearm at a person,” the AP reported.

The teen described himself as a good kid before he became involved with the wrong crowd, The Kansas City Star reported.

Jackson County prosecutors have alleged that the shooting was set off during an altercation between two groups. Lyndell Mays, one of the three men facing a murder charge in the death of local DJ Lisa Lopez Galvan, is accused of being the first person to start firing.

After that, R.G. began to shoot toward Mays and hit another person in his own group, Dominic Miller, who also is charged with murder, Kansas City police detective Grant Spiking said.

“You made some bad choices, but that doesn’t make you a bad person. It doesn’t make you a bad kid,” Jackson County Family Court Administrative Judge Jennifer Phillips said to the teen during a proceeding similar to a sentencing hearing in adult court.

A commitment at a state Department of Youth Services facility typically lasts nine to 12 months, a deputy juvenile officer with Jackson County Circuit Court said.

Earlier this month, Phillips accepted the teen’s admission that he committed the charge of unlawful use of a weapon by knowingly discharging or firing a firearm at a person.

The Jackson County Juvenile Officer’s office, which oversees youth cases, dismissed a second charge, armed criminal action, and agreed to not go through the certification process that could see the teen’s case sent to adult court.

Jon Bailey, the teen’s attorney, requested that he be released on an intensive supervision program and house arrest with a condition of no social media use.

“Our house is not a home without him,” the teen’s mother told Phillips.

But an attorney representing the juvenile office argued that time in the youth facility would help separate the teen from any negative peer influences.

A top Democratic super PAC has launched a massive ad buy across several battleground states to boost Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential candidacy leading up to the Democratic Party’s convention in Chicago next month.

Future Forward, the largest Democratic-leaning super PAC, announced this week it will spend $50 million supporting Harris in six states in the next three weeks ahead of the convention in Chicago, The Washington Post reported. 

Additionally, the outlet reported that the second-largest independent supporter of Democrats, American Bridge 21st Century, will start placing ads Friday in the key swing state of Michigan.

On top of that, Women Vote, part of the Emily’s List network, announced Thursday it was spending $2 million to target younger women in four battleground states.

“We’re ready to hit the ground running to make sure voters know that Kamala Harris will be a president that fights for them,” Future Forward President Chauncey McLean told The Washington Post Thursday. 

“She is focused on improving the lives of all Americans, while Donald Trump is only focused on himself.”

David Axelrod, a former top adviser to former President Obama, called the move a “big development.”

“Pro-Harris SuperPAC to launch major buy in the battleground states, with an initial spot to highlight her battles as a DA, attorney general and VP,” Axelrod posted on X.

“Essential air cover, especially as the Trump forces spend to define her negatively.”

One of the ads will describe Harris as “the district attorney who protected children from sexual predators” and “the attorney general who stood up to the big banks to protect homeowners and won.”

The Washington Post reported that MAGA Inc. is also planning to spend $32 million going after Harris before Labor Day, which will bring its total spending during that period to $72 million. 

Fox News Digital reached out to the Trump campaign for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

A new survey compiled after Biden dropped out of the race reveals Trump and Harris are tied in the crucial swing state of Michigan despite the former president’s previous lead by nearly double digits.

National polls have sent mixed signals, with some showing a tie and some showing a slight lead for either candidate. 

The New York Times/Siena College released a new survey this week that found Trump leads Harris by only one percentage point among likely voters, 48% to 47%. Among registered voters, Trump led Harris by two percentage points.

Twenty-four French athletes were Olympic torchbearers, but a special duo received the honor of lighting the cauldron.

The torch’s final trek began with soccer legend Zinedine Zidane, and it was eventually handed to two French Olympic heroes who each won three Olympic gold medals.

Track star Marie-José Pérec and judoka Teddy Riner lit the cauldron, which also had a French twist, much like the rest of the opening ceremony.

The duo lit their torches onto a 100-foot hot-air balloon, which signified the first flight in a hydrogen balloon in 1783.

Pérec, 56, won gold in the 400 meters at both the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and four years later in Atlanta. She also took home the gold in 1996 in the 200 meters. At the time, her 48.25 400-meter run in ’96 was an Olympic record.

Riner won gold in 2012 in London and 2016 in Rio in the men’s plus-100 kg division, while winning again in Tokyo in the mixed team competition. The 35-year-old also has 12 gold medals in world championships, including one last year. He will look for his fourth Olympic gold this year and will begin competing Aug. 2.

It is the second straight Summer Games an athlete participating in that year’s Olympics lit the cauldron. Naomi Osaka lit the cauldron in Tokyo in 2021 before competing.

Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Nadia Comaneci and Tony Parker were all torchbearers in the lead-up to the official lighting. 

Despite the ceremony taking place Friday, events started as early as Wednesday, including the United States’ women’s soccer victory over Zambia.

The first medal events begin Saturday.

There was a positive test for a banned substance at the Olympics before the opening ceremony even began.

Sajjad Sehen’s first Olympic Games are over before they even started after the Iraqi judoka tested positive for metandienone and boldenone in a sample taken in Paris Tuesday.

The 28-year-old was due to compete Tuesday but is heading home instead.

Sehen is provisionally suspended while a disciplinary case is prosecuted, according to the International Testing Agency, which oversees the anti-doping program for the International Olympic Committee.

“This means that the athlete is prevented from competing, training, coaching or participating in any activity during the Olympic Games,” the agency said.

The agency added that Sehen “has the right to challenge the imposition of the provisional suspension before the Court of Arbitration for Sport – Anti-Doping Division (CAS ADD)” and also “has the right to request the analysis of the B sample.”

Sehen was in the bracket for the 81kg division.

The Tokyo Games had six athletes test positive for banned substances.

Metandienone is sold under the brand name Dianabol, commonly shortened to D-Bol. Both substances Sehen allegedly took are anabolic steroids.

Sehen was scheduled to face Sharofiddin Boltaboev of Uzbekistan in the elimination Round of 32.

Sehen claimed bronze at the 2023 Arab Games and was a two-time World Cup bronze medalist last year in the category.

Aside from the 18-person soccer team, there are now only three other athletes representing Iraq at the games: sprinter Taha Hussein Yaseen, swimmer Hasan Al-Zinkee and weightlifter Ali Rubaiawi.

The entire 81kg competition will take place July 30, beginning  at 4 a.m. ET.

The 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris has sparked international outrage with drag-queen themed imagery of religious and historical figures.

In between listing all the countries participating in the Olympic Games, there have been several performances riffing on France’s history and culture, such as a headless Marie Antoinette, the last queen prior to being executed amid French Revolution, singing with her severed head in her hands sporting drag-style makeup. This was part of numerous drag queens that appeared to be a recurring theme throughout the ceremonies. Three drag queens were among the 10,000 torchbearers who relayed the Olympic flame as it started in Greece, passed through French territories and made its way to Paris.

One new display on Friday showed what appear to be numerous performers, including drag queens and a large woman in an aureole halo crown, parodying “The Last Supper,” a universally recognizable painting by renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci of Christ and his apostles. 

Many internationally known political figures, particularly from American politics, condemned the display as a sign of the cultural rot in Western Civilization.

“Men in wigs front & center at the Olympic Games,” OutKick’s Riley Gaines wrote in a social media post. “No one ever tell me this group is ‘oppressed’ or ‘marginalized’ again.”

Tesla founder Elon Musk who bought the X platform criticized the display, saying, “This was extremely disrespectful to Christians.”

Harrison Butker, an NFL football player who made headlines with his speech about Catholic faith quoted scripture to condemn the display, writing, “Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap. For he that soweth in his flesh, of the flesh also shall reap corruption. But he that soweth in the spirit, of the spirit shall reap life everlasting.’ Galatians 6:7-8.”

Ex-transgender influencer Oli London described the scene, “Olympics openly mocks Jesus’ Last Supper as drag queens dressed as women play the role of disciples while a plus size woman appears in the middle symbolising Jesus wearing a giant crown.”

“The Olympics has basically turned into one long drag show,” anti-woke cultural commentator Libs of TikTok wrote. “The Olympics has gone completely woke.”

Canadian conservative commentator Harrison Faulkner asked, “Wtf is going on at the Olympics opening ceremony?”

Juanita Broaddrick, the former nursing administrator who accused former President Bill Clinton of raping her, responded to the display at the Olympics, “Paris had fallen before the Olympics.  This is just a continuation of it.”

Conservative French politician and European parliament member Marion Maréchal, who has spoken at CPAC in the United States, warned international viewers that this polarizing display does not represent French people like herself. 

“To all the Christians of the world who are watching the #Paris2024 ceremony and felt insulted by this drag queen parody of the Last Supper, know that it is not France that is speaking but a left-wing minority ready for any provocation. #notinmyname,” she wrote.

U.S. forces in the Middle East have destroyed Houthi drones in Yemen in the past 24 hours, the military said Friday. 

Separately, forces with the U.S. Central Command destroyed three uncrewed Houthi surface vessels operating of the Yemeni coast, CENTCOM said. 

“It was determined these weapons presented an imminent threat to U.S., coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region,” a Centcom statement said. “These actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure.”

LARGE EXPLOSION ROCKS TEL AVIV IN MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

U.S. forces have engaged with Iran-backed Houthi drones and militia for months following the group’s assault on commercial ships in the Mediterranean Sea. The group began targeting merchant ships in opposition to Israel’s war against Hamas. 

Last week, Israel launched surgical strikes against the Houthis after the terror group fired a lethal drone into Tel Aviv, resulting in the death of an Israeli and at least 10 injured and severe damage to buildings. 

The strike took place near the U.S. consulate building in Tel Aviv.

“The fire that is currently burning in Yemen, is seen across the Middle East,” Israel’s Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant said after the strikes in Yemen. “The first time that the Houthis harmed an Israeli citizen, we struck them. And we will do this in any place where it may be required.”
