EXCLUSIVE: Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry and head coach Steve Kerr were backing Vice President Harris pretty passionately in the recent election. 

However, her crushing loss to President-elect Donald Trump did not stop them from focusing on getting a big win against the Boston Celtics last week, according to a team player. 

Second-year Warriors shooting guard Brandin Podziemski told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview what the vibe of the team’s locker room was like after Trump’s landslide victory over Harris last week. Podziemski says Curry and Kerr made it a point to stay focused on the upcoming game. 

“We were in Boston and our focus was beating the Celtics,” Podziemski said. “Whoever was elected, we’re going to have to deal with it anyways, and so Steve and Steph and the whole group made it a point to just focus on the game because that’s all we could control.”

Podziemski suggested that there was a diverse range of opinions in the Warriors’ locker room but very few conversations about the actual election results. 

“Everybody just has their own opinions and their own things that they believe in, and I don’t think, that no matter what you believe in, it’s going to change anything in terms of relationships with our guys, so we just kind of let everybody have their own opinion, we didn’t really share much about it all amongst each other, we were just kind of focusing on what’s in front of us.” 

The Warriors got the win against Boston last Wednesday 118-112. Curry had 27 points that night, as the team is off to a fast 9-2 start to the season. 

Both Curry and Kerr were vocal supporters of Harris during the cycle, with both making speaking appearances at the Democrat National Convention in July. 

Kerr even went so far as to mock Trump on stage during his speech, boasting that Democrats would be able to use Curry’s famous on-court celebration upon a Trump defeat, but that prediction was wrong.

“After the results are tallied that night, we can, in the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump, ‘Night, night!’” Kerr said as he rested his head on his hands like a pillow. 

However, since the election results on Tuesday, both Curry and Kerr have congratulated Trump on his win and wished the next president luck. 

“It’s a situation where Trump won. Congratulate them on a hard-fought campaign,” Curry told reporters after the Celtics game. “The whole part about how this country’s supposed to work is everybody supporting each other and coming with the right intentions to lead the country in the right direction. That’s my hope. I don’t hold any resentment or ill will. You want these next four years to go great for everybody. We want accountability on that front, too.”

Podziemski, who is originally from the suburb of Greenfield, Wisconsin, first came to the Bay Area in 2022, when he transferred from the University of Illinois to Santa Clara University. He was drafted in the first round by the Warriors in the 2023 NBA Draft and has stepped up as an effective bench player in his second season during the team’s hot start.

As much as he has looked to Curry and Kerr as leaders and champions, he does not see their political activism as something he would necessarily follow himself. 

“I don’t really look at, in terms of politics, anybody as a role model,” Podziemski said. “As a person, as a basketball player, I look up to Steph a lot, but when it comes to politics, everybody has to have their own opinion and their own voice at some point, so for me I value what he says, I value what everyone else has to say, and I just keep it pushing.”

Podziemski, who was named an all-rookie first team in his first season, has averaged 8.2 points with 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists to start his second year. For him, this season is important because of what it means to Curry, regardless of his political impact. 

Curry did not rule out the possibility of running for president himself when he is done playing basketball during an interview on CBS earlier this year. 

Until then, all Curry is focused on is getting to another NBA Finals. At 36 years old, Curry only has so many years left to chase a fifth championship. It is a conversation that Podziemski has had with the veteran plenty of times this year. 

“We talked over the summer quite a bit that he only has so many years left, he knows that, so he wants to get ring number five,” Podziemski said. “That’s his big focus, and he knows he only has so much left in the tank to give, so he wants to win.” 

Podziemski is doing his part to try and make that happen. 

Meanwhile, the second-year player has followed the example of another Warriors veteran teammate more closely. Podziemski has recently started a new sponsorship with Invisalign, as he has partnered with the dental technology brand as one of his endorsement deals, following the lead of fellow Warriors guard Kevon Looney. 

“Over 18 million people use them worldwide, so it made sense all around for me,” he said.

A Democratic official made repeated impolite comments about an officer’s genitals during a drunken driving arrest, according to the Chicago police. 

Democratic Board of Review Commissioner Samantha Steele was found lying on the ground beside two vehicles with “extensive” damage around 8:50 p.m on Sunday, according to a police report reviewed by the Chicago Sun-Times.

The 45-year-old, who now faces a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol, admitted to officers that she had caused the collision.

An open bottle of red wine was spotted on the floor of her vehicle, according to the report.

“I observed her eyes were bloodshot and glassy,” an officer wrote in a report. “I also detected a strong odor of [an] alcoholic beverage coming from her breath as she spoke.”

However, Steele allegedly refused to submit to sobriety tests, telling police on the scene that she wanted her lawyer when she was asked how many drinks she had before the crash.

Steele was arrested and handcuffed. During her arrest, according to the report, she repeatedly asked an officer, “Is your penis that small?”

She was sent for a medical examination at a nearby hospital after complaining of pain from head injuries, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. There, she requested that another member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners come to the hospital to serve as her lawyer, according to the newspaper.

The lawyer, Scott Britton, referred her to another lawyer because he is not a criminal attorney.

Steele’s court date has been set for Dec. 27, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. She could not immediately be reached for comment.

In a fight between one of the greatest boxers of all time and someone who got his fame through YouTube, social media and Disney Channel, the latter is the betting favorite.

Odds currently have 27-year-old Jake Paul as the favorite over Mike Tyson, 58, for their long-awaited Friday night fight in Dallas.

Of course, Paul is fresh, with this being his third fight of the year. He is also 29 years Tyson’s junior. Tyson, meanwhile, has not had a professional fight since 2005; his bout with Roy Jones four years ago was an exhibition.

Tyson was mostly mellow and short-winded in the final Paul-Tyson press conference on Wednesday – the polar opposite of his opponent, who even took bets with those on the card, including co-main evener Katie Taylor. The most amped up Tyson got at the final Paul-Tyson press conference on Wednesday was when he said emphatically, “I’m not gonna lose.” Other than that, he was very short, but not so sweet.

His confidence is understandable – any training video Tyson puts out, he seems awfully dangerous, especially for someone nearing 60. The odds, though, seem to be disrespecting him.

However, Tyson does not seem to mind that too much.

When asked by Fox News Digital how disrespected he felt at the unfavorable odds and why he thought he was the underdog, his response, as usual, was short.

“I’m fine with everything – I’m fine with everything,” Tyson said in typical Tyson fashion.

Admittedly, DraftKings Director of Sports Operations Johnny Avello said the lines are more disrespect to Tyson, who is at around +160 with Paul at -200.

“He didn’t even look that good at the end of his career – he was struggling with no-name guys. Here he is now at 58 years old – he looks good, I think he’s in fairly good shape, but it’s one thing to be in good shape; it’s another thing to be in fighting shape,” Avello said in an interview with Fox News Digital. 

“Paul’s not known for being a great fighter, whereas Tyson is. So I would say it’s more disrespect.”

Avello also said it was difficult to come up with necessarily fair odds when one half of the main event does not have much of a recent sample to base anything off of.

“We were all over the map on this, thinking with what [the odds] should have been,” Avello said.

However, despite several six-figure wagers on Paul, Avello noted that nearly 70% of the money is on Tyson for numerous reasons – Tyson fandom plus Paul hatred being one of them. 

It is on track to be the most wagered-on fight of the year. One popular bet people are taking is Tyson, with his power, to win in the first round at 22-1.

“That has taken a large amount of money,” Avello said. “The liability can build up rather quickly.”

We’ll take Tyson at his word when he says he’s “fine” with being the underdog – but it’s no question that he will definitely be fine if that bet comes to fruition.

Eric Bischoff will be back and better than ever – at least for one night.

The legendary pro wrestling figure will take control of the Major League Wrestling (MLW) One Shot event in New York City on Dec. 5. He told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview he would donate his entire paycheck to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

“One of the things I told (MLW founder Court Bauer) right away was this isn’t about the money,” Bischoff said. “He started to negotiate my fee and I really wasn’t interested in negotiating it, I just said whatever it is, I’m going to donate it to Tunnel to Towers.

“So, it doesn’t matter, and I don’t want to negotiate it. I just want whatever it is to be donated because I’m not doing this for the money. I’m doing it for the fun.”

Bischoff will be calling the shots for the one night of pro wrestling at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens. He said he talked to Bauer for several years about doing a show with MLW, but the timing was just never right. Then, the stars aligned.

Paul Walter Hauser, an actor-turned-MLW wrestler, joined Bischoff on the wrestling mogul’s YouTube show “Life Choices.” As the two discussed the business, Hauser called Bauer live and the dominoes fell into place from there.

Talented pro wrestlers have moved through the company, including Alex Shelley, Austin Aries, Lexis King (then known as Brian Pillman Jr.), Francine, Gangrel, Jacob Fatu, Karrion Kross (then known as Killer Kross), Konnan, Matt Cardona, MJF, Tajiri and several others.

The roster now includes established talents like KENTA, Matt Riddle, Satoshi Kojima, Mistico, Minoru Suzuki, Bobby Fish and The Andersons, among others. Donovan Dijak also made his debut with the company over the summer after his contract with WWE was not renewed.

“They’re obviously attracting some great talent. Court, as a former writer in WWE, understands the art of storytelling. I love the fact that they’re the underdog, and they’re kind of, of course, building this brand from the ground up.

“And, I love watching emerging companies – whether it’s in the wrestling business or anything else. I’m just fascinated with the prospect of MLW growing and reaching the next level or whatever it may be for them.”

Bischoff has been behind some of the most interesting creative angles in pro wrestling history, as he helped establish the New World Order faction in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), which saw Hulk Hogan go from the good guy to a heel, joining the likes of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, collectively known as The Outsiders. The decision sparked the “Monday Night Wars” with WWE (then known as the World Wrestling Federation) and put WCW on top for more than a year in the ratings battle.

In the end, WCW flamed out, but Bischoff’s influence in the business was far from cooled. He joined WWE to become the on-air general manager of the RAW brand and was also an executive producer for Total Nonstop Action wrestling.

Bischoff told Fox News Digital he is already starting to enjoy getting back into the creative aspect of the wrestling business and is looking forward to creating a show.

It does not exactly mean he is looking for a return in the long run.

“I don’t even think about that,” he said. “One of the things I told Court is that for me to do something in wrestling now, it has to be fun. If it’s not fun for me, if it’s just a job, or if it’s just a payday, I’m really not that interested. … When it comes to putting my toe back in the water in wrestling, my first priority is that it has to be fun. If it’s not fun, I’m not interested.

“So it all depends. I honestly, to be very transparent about it, I can’t see it. I like my life just the way it is. I live in a beautiful part of the country out in the middle of nowhere where I can look out my back window and see Yellowstone National Park. … 

“So, for me to commit – just committing to professional wrestling is 24 hours, seven days a week. If you’re not doing it, you’re thinking about it. If you’re not thinking about it, you’re worrying about it. If you’re not worrying about it, you’re sleeping. It’s hard for me to imagine. But again, it depends how much fun I have. If it’s successful and everybody, not just me, but if the audience enjoys, if Court and his team – most importantly- enjoy the process, then, you know, anything’s possible. But highly unlikely. Let’s put it that way.”

More than a week after Election Day, the final outcome of the 2024 election is still yet to be decided as nine House races remain uncalled.

Republican Donald Trump won the presidency again and the GOP will have the Senate majority. The GOP is projected to maintain a majority in the House of Representatives, but the size of that majority will be unclear until all the votes are counted. The balance of power currently sits at 218 seats for Republicans and 208 for the Democrats. 

Here’s where things stand with the uncalled House races: 

GOP INCUMBENT PROJECTED TO DEFEAT DEM CHALLENGER IN CLOSELY WATCHED ARIZONA HOUSE RACE

Democratic incumbent Rep. Mary Sattler Peltola is in a tight race in Alaska’s at-large congressional district, where she is trailing Republican entrepreneur Nick Begich.

As of Thursday morning, Begich holds more than a 3-point lead at 49% of the vote compared to Peltola’s 45.9%. The vote count sits at 145,754 to 136,319, with roughly 94% of the vote counted.

Democratic incumbent Josh Harder leads Republican challenger Kevin Lincoln by more than 3 percentage points. Though the race is uncalled, Lincoln has conceded to Harder.

“While the results are not what we had hoped for, I remain incredibly proud of the journey we’ve shared and the incredible progress we’ve made together,” Lincoln said in a statement. 

“This campaign may have ended, but the work continues.” 

The district had about 86% of the vote recorded as of Thursday, and Harder’s lead expanded to 8,125 votes. 

Republican Rep. John Duarte is leading former Democratic state assembly member Adam Gray in California’s 13th Congressional District, but the highly contested race remains uncalled as of Thursday.

Roughly 74% of the vote has been counted, and Duarte holds a 51.2% to 48.8% lead. The pair is separated by just under 4,000 votes.

Incumbent Democratic Rep. Jim Costa leads his Republican challenger, Michael Maher, in a 51.6% to 48.4% race as of Thursday morning.

So far, 81.7% of the vote has been counted, and Costa’s lead is more than 5,000 votes. 

Incumbent Republican Rep. Michelle Steel leads her Democratic challenger Derek Tran by a few hundred votes as of Thursday morning. A little more than 92% of the votes have been counted, and Steel’s lead has shrunk to 349 votes.

REPUBLICANS PROJECTED TO KEEP CONTROL OF HOUSE AS TRUMP PREPARES TO IMPLEMENT AGENDA

Republican incumbent Rep. Mariannet Miller-Meeks holds a less than 1% lead over challenger Christina Bohannan with 99% of the vote counted. Miller-Meeks’ lead sits at just under 1,000 votes.

Democratic incumbent Jared Golden holds a razor-thin lead over Republican challenger Austin Theriault as of Thursday morning.

With 98% of the votes counted, Golden’s lead sits at less than 800 votes.

TRUMP THROWS FULL SUPPORT BEHIND MIKE JOHNSON BEFORE SPEAKER ELECTION

Democratic incumbent Marcy Kaptur leads her Republican challenger, Derek Merrin, by less than 1 point with 99% of the votes counted. Kaptur’s lead sits at just over 1,000 votes as of Tuesday.

Republican incumbent Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer is trailing her Democratic challenger, Janelle Bynum, by nearly 3 points with 93% of the votes counted Tuesday.

Bynum’s lead sits at just over 10,000 votes. Independent and third-party candidates earned some 27,500 votes in the district.

Election Day has come and gone, but officials in every state still have several important dates ahead to verify the final vote tally. The process for this election differs from in the past. Several changes were made because of the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

“We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn’t happen,” then-President Donald Trump said before protesters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.

When Congress passed its government spending bill in December 2022, it included the Electoral Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act. The bill included changes to the process in which presidential election results are transferred from the states to Congress. Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers backed the measure.

HOUSE REPUBLICANS TO ELECT NEW TRUMP-ERA LEADERSHIP WITH MAJORITY STILL UNDECIDED

“I was so pleased to see Democrats and Republicans work together to pass the Electoral Reform Act,” President Biden said on Jan. 6, 2023. “America is a land of laws and not chaos, a nation at peace and not violence.”

The new law updates legislation from nearly 130 years ago. After the election of 1876, when Rutherford B. Hayes defeated Samuel Tilden, both parties were accused of committing fraud. Republicans stuffed ballot boxes, and Democrats intimidated Black voters, who at the time overwhelmingly supported the Republican Party. Both parties claimed victory after fraudulent incidents were reported. Around 20 electoral votes were contested, but the Constitution contained no guidance on how to handle a contested election.

An electoral commission eventually decided each contested state in favor of Hayes, and about a decade later, Congress passed the Electoral Count Act of 1887. The law provided a system for certifying elections, but remained unchanged until 2022.

“You’ve got literally a group of insurrectionists trying to overturn the election based on an 1887 law from the Rutherford Hayes days that had not been updated,” said Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.

The 1887 law did not include a hard deadline for states to certify their appointment of electors or any guidance on how federal courts could resolve disputes over a state’s appointment of electors.

“It is vague and ambiguous and contributed to some of the confusion on Jan. 6,” said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

State Certification Deadline

The Electoral Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act now creates a deadline for when states must certify their appointment of electors. This must happen six days before the electors meet to vote.

Legal Challenges Deadline

The new law also includes an expedited procedure for courts to resolve disputes over state’s appointment of electors. Any challenges must be addressed before the state electors meet.

Members of the Electoral College meet in each state to cast votes for president and vice president.

Electoral Votes Arrive

The electoral votes must be received by the president of the Senate and the archivist no later than the fourth Wednesday in December.

Congress Counts Electoral Votes

Congress will once again count the votes on Jan. 6, but several clarifications have been made to the process. If any members object to the votes, it must be submitted in writing and signed by at least one-fifth of the House and one-fifth of the Senate.

“The Congress still has options in case of a truly extraordinary circumstance. But we avoid an arms race or objections with almost no support,” said Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky, during a hearing on the bill in September 2022.

While the 1887 law did not explicitly state the vice president could decide on the electoral count, the 2022 language clarifies the role of the vice president. It states:

“The President of the Senate shall have no power to solely determine, accept, reject, or otherwise adjudicate or resolve disputes over the proper certificate of ascertainment of appointment of electors, the validity of electors, or the votes of electors.”

A 27-year-old man convicted of killing a New Mexico police officer during a traffic stop last year will spend the rest of his life behind bars, according to New Mexico State Police (NMSP).

Dominic De La O was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Tuesday, the agency said in a news release on Wednesday.

A jury found De La O guilty of first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer, resisting/evading an officer, and criminal trespass on Nov. 8.

He is responsible for the July 2023 death of 41-year-old Alamogordo police officer Anthony Ferguson.

NEW MEXICO POLICE OFFICER DIES AFTER SUSPECT SHOOTS HIM IN FACE WITH SAWED-OFF SHOTGUN DURING CHASE

“The conviction and sentencing of the person responsible for this senseless murder brings some measure of justice, but it will never replace the loss of Officer Ferguson,” NMSP Chief Troy Weisler said in the release.

The incident began at around 2:18 a.m. on July 15, 2023, when Alamogordo police officers tried to initiate a traffic stop on De La O near Puerto Rico and 9th Street for driving without lights.

De La O fled from authorities, crashed into a light pole, exited the vehicle with a sawed-off shotgun and began running. 

During the foot pursuit, De La O turned around and shot Ferguson in the face. He died from his injuries at University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, on July 16.

De La O was shot in the leg by police as he continued to flee to a nearby home, where he was arrested.

SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING NEW MEXICO POLICE OFFICER IN THE FACE

Weisler said state police will continue to work with “all our law enforcement partners to ensure that those who harm our officers are held accountable to the full extent of the law.”

Another New Mexico man was sentenced to six years in prison in connection with the case for providing the modified shotgun to De La O. The DNA of Jonah Apodaca, 31, was located on the shell recovered from the chamber of the shotgun and ammo from the magazine tube, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“This tragic event has left an indelible mark on our law enforcement community, and our hearts continue to go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Tony Ferguson. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Weisler said.

Ferguson was an 11-year veteran of the department. He is survived by his mother, father, four brothers, daughter and son.

A Texas man and woman are accused of stabbing a man to death after living in his condo with him.

Leo Moore and Haley Barber, both 20, have been charged with capital murder in the killing of Johnny Mac Ross Jr. 

Moore and Barber, who reportedly had been living with Ross, allegedly killed him, wrapped him up with rugs and sheets, stole his car and then led police on a chase through the east Dallas suburb of Garland.

Garland police arrested the duo Monday afternoon after a chase, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.

“It was several days. It does not appear that the stabbing occurred that morning,” Garland Police Lt. Pedro Barineau told the outlet. “We’re working with the medical examiner to determine how long that person had been deceased.”

Surveillance video shows the couple going in and out of the condo during the time period in which Ross was believed to be stabbed to death.

Neighbors said the couple lived in the condo with Ross, and that there had been a staunch odor coming from the home for a few days – a stink that got worse as the days passed.

One of the neighbors, Dillan Meadows, told FOX 4 that he’d heard unusually loud noises coming from the apartment. Other neighbors reiterated that sentiment.

Meadows spoke positively about Ross, someone he’d only known for six months.

“We used to go fishing all the time out back,” Meadows said. “He used to come down, sit out there and fish with us. He used to bring us food, sit there on the grill. He was a really cool dude.”

Others told FOX 4 there was high-risk activity associated with the condo.

“There’s still a lot more information that our detectives are trying to uncover,” Barineau said.

Moore and Barber allegedly stole Ross’ 2001 Mercedes before leading police on a chase. They are being held at the Garland Detention Center without bond.

The Rams failed to score a touchdown in their 23-15 loss to the Dolphins in front of their home crowd, and simply put, the team looks far away from the glory days of their Super Bowl nearly three years ago.

However, one member of that Super Bowl champion team says the future is bright in Southern California.

“If you look at it, that was game one for that group,” Andrew Whitworth told Fox News Digital in a recent interview, citing the team’s injuries early on and finally being healthy for the first time this past Monday. “It’s interesting, it really shows you how much being cohesive and being together matters… I look at this young defense and think they’re growing and getting better. Since the bye, they’ve turned things around. There’s still offseason holes where they have to get better, but to see the steps this group has taken up front, you have to feel really good about what the future of this could be.”

Whitworth was tailgating with fans ahead of the game as part of his new partnership with Tide, which came to the rescue when the food and drinks he indulged got a tad messy.

“But now…let’s see if we can make a playoff run of some kind, sneak into that seventh seed, and see if you can make some magic happen.”

Ronnie Singh, NBA 2K’s director of digital marketing who often goes by “Ronnie 2K” in the gaming community, says that after her historic rookie season, Caitlin Clark is obviously in the running.

“I think she’s a young star that’s going to be here for a long time. I wouldn’t disqualify any woman, but Caitlin is at the top of the list and probably will be for years to come,” Singh said to Fox News Digital in a recent interview.

Singh said cover athletes normally represent three qualities: authenticity and representation to the game, if they are on an upward trajectory and if they align with the story they are trying to tell. Clark checks all of those boxes, Singh said.

Clark and Reese were the only rookies from this past season to be named WNBA All-Stars. Reese had set the record for most rebounds in a single season in league history, but when her season was cut short due to injury, Wilson surpassed her. Clark, meanwhile, put up the most assists in a single WNBA season while averaging close to 20 points per game.

Clark received 66 of 67 first-place votes for Rookie of the Year – Reese received the other.

Donald Trump’s second term will be a historic four years for sports. 

The entire world will turn its eyes to the U.S. as it hosts a World Cup and a Summer Olympics in a single presidential term. 

And for sports in America, Trump’s controversial standing among many of the country’s biggest stars and figures could burn even hotter than it did four years ago.

Here’s a look at all the sports history that will come under a political and global microscope with Trump in the White House over the next four years.

The 2024 college football season is the first in history with a 12-team playoff, and the first with a massive realignment in the sport’s most prominent conferences after a mass exodus of programs from the Pac-12. 

The first official championship will technically take place just days before Trump is inaugurated in January, but the champions’ White House visit will be one of the first of Trump’s second term.

Trump should expect respect from the sport’s coaches and stars. During Trump’s first term, and even during his recent campaign, college football has been the sport to embrace Trump the most unanimously in the U.S. His appearances at games, including multiple Army-Navy games in his first term and a Georgia-Alabama game in September, were met with rousing applause.

No college football national champion skipped a White House visit during Trump’s first term. Meanwhile, Georgia skipped a visit to President Biden’s White House in 2023.

And no notable college football coach has spoken out against Trump publicly, while many have spoken positively about the next president.

With 12 teams now in the college football playoff, it’s possible that in the next three years Trump’s White House could host the lowest-ranked team to ever win the national title, a potential American underdog story. 

Trump infamously declined to invite several major women’s basketball championship teams to the White House during his first term, including every WNBA champion.

Among those were the 2017 women’s college basketball champion South Carolina Gamecocks, the 2017 WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx and the 2018 women’s college basketball champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The 2018 WNBA champion Seattle Storm were not invited but made it clear they would not have attended the ceremony if they had.

The one time Trump’s White House ever hosted a women’s basketball team was the 2019 national champion Baylor Bears.

The reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty would be scheduled to visit Trump’s White House in May. However, it is possible they will not be invited or might not even attend if they are invited. Liberty star Breanna Stewart has been an activist for left-wing values and joined the protests against Trump’s travel ban in January 2017, shortly after he took office the first time. 

Meanwhile, 22-year-old superstar Caitlin Clark has brought a significant new spotlight to the sport since Trump was last in office, and Trump himself has complimented Clark and suggested she is underpaid during an interview on the “Let’s Go!” podcast. 

“She’s incredible, by the way,” Trump then said of Clark. “I’ve watched her. I think she’s incredible. The shot – I watch her shot go in, it’s like, could she shoot that way in the NBA? She’s unbelievable.”

It’s possible that Clark will lead the Indiana Fever to an WNBA title in the next three years, considering the rookie star led the team back to the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons. If that happens, then whether Clark and her teammates attend a Trump White House visit will be a cornerstone moment in the history of the WNBA and the future of its audience.

Trump will present the 2026 World Cup trophy after the final at MetLife Stadium in 2026. It was Trump’s first administration that made the bid to host the 2026 World Cup, and now he will preside over it when it happens. 

However, that deal was initially agreed upon with the understanding that Trump wouldn’t be president when the event took place amid concerns over the controversy he stirred in the global community. In a meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the White House in August 2018, Trump didn’t factor in the possibility of losing the 2020 election, which opened the door for him to run again four years later and thus return to office in time for the 2026 World Cup.

“2026, I won’t be here,” Trump said at the time, per the Associated Press.

Infantino nevertheless used his Instagram account to congratulate Trump even before his election victory early on Nov. 6. Infantino also recently moved to Miami, 70 miles south of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. FIFA even seems to have an open line of communication with Trump to talk through potential challenges, such as Iran’s probable qualification for the men’s World Cup and the political implications it may bring.

Whether the players on the field are as receptive to Trump in two years is a different question. But Trump may be spared an awkward trophy interaction with one of soccer’s biggest stars, based on past interactions, if one of the sport’s powerhouse countries prevails.

France superstar Kylian Mbappé, who led his country to the final for the second straight time in 2022 before losing to Lionel Messi and Argentina, once posed with Trump’s daughter and son-in-law; Mbappé posed for a photo with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the French star even put his arms around Trump’s grandchildren in the photo. 

However, Mbappé also went out of his way to speak out against his country’s right-wing presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen, in France’s election this year. Mbappé criticized Le Pen for her anti-immigration stances. 

Mbappé may well be the biggest star in all of soccer in 2026 at his current pace.

The Kansas City Chiefs could be in the last leg of their quest for a third straight Super Bowl when Trump is inaugurated in January. The Chiefs are currently undefeated and have the best odds in the league to make the big game.

If they pull it off, it would also earn the team its first Trump White House visit. They couldn’t make it during the summer of 2020 thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Their last two championships have resulted in trips to Biden’s White House, where all notable players except for kicker Harrison Butker attended.

But tight end Travis Kelce would have his own dilemma if his team gets the job done and gets invited to Trump’s White House. Kelce’s girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, endorsed Trump’s Democrat opponent, Vice President Harris, in the recent election, and she has endorsed Democrats since 2018. But Swift’s endorsement of Harris prompted a hostile response from Trump himself when he wrote, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on his Truth Social platform in September.

Kelce has not spoken about politics or the election at all in this year’s cycle. He was previously criticized by Aaron Rodgers for endorsing a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, family members of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showed support for Trump in the recent election cycle. Mahomes’ mother officially endorsed Trump, and his wife, Brittany, liked multiple posts and comments on social media in support of Trump.

The Chiefs are the active dynasty of the NFL, and that could easily continue into Trump’s presidency, along with awkward White House invitations.

The only two NFL teams to get invitations to Trump’s White House during his first term were the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. The Patriots accepted both invitations in 2017 and 2019. The Eagles’ visit was canceled, and the team released a statement saying it was in relation to Trump’s stance on players standing for the national anthem.

The Eagles are another team that could be in regular contention to win the Super Bowl throughout the rest of Trump’s second term, and if they do, a second White House invitation could incite a national controversy as it did the first time.

Like the 2026 World Cup, Trump had an active hand in America’s bidding to host the 2028 Olympics. And now he is set to preside over it in the final year of his second term.

However, cooperation with Trump has not been publicly embraced the same way with the International Olympic Committee as it has with FIFA.

IOC President Thomas Bach made one visit to the White House in June 2017 that is part of Olympic lore for how badly it went.

“Pray for our world,” Bach was heard to say on a cellphone call later that day in Washington, D.C.

The IOC has not yet acknowledged Trump’s presidential victory. Asked why there was no formal acknowledgment of Trump’s win last week, the IOC cited its tradition of neutrality and not taking political sides, according to the AP.

Potential conflict between Trump and the IOC could arise over the issue of gender eligibility for athletes in women’s sports. Trump has pledged to ban trans athletes in women’s sports as part of his presidency, and he spoke out against the inclusion of boxers Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting. Both of those boxers failed gender eligibility tests for previous international competitions.

However, the IOC has defended the inclusion of the boxers. More cases could arise by 2028; the United Nations says nearly 900 biological females have fallen short of the podium because they were beaten out by trans athletes.

Not a single NBA champion attended a Trump White House visit during his first term.

LeBron James and Stephen Curry, the two players who dominated those four years, have lambasted Trump on multiple occasions while endorsing Democrat candidates. They both endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016, Biden in 2020 and Harris in 2024.

But both players are now coming to the end of their careers, and whether they will even have the opportunity to decline a Trump White House visit is no guarantee.

Now sanctuary cities are scaling back on their migrant shelter systems as proponents of illegal immigration brace for what Trump and his incoming “border czar” Tom Homan have vowed will be a mass deportation operation.

New York City officials have already announced closures of multiple shelters, where they had housed hundreds of migrants, and are expected to scale back more.

The influx of illegals coincided with spikes in robberies and shoplifting in the Big Apple that the NYPD called a “wave of migrant crime.”

New York City’s sprawling migrant shelter on Randall’s Island, which was designed to house up to 3,000 people, is slated to shut down by February, a couple of weeks after Trump’s inauguration to a second term on Jan. 20, 2025.

According to the New York Post, the city’s wave of new migrant arrivals has “significantly slowed” and more than 170,000 migrants already in the shelter system have since moved on.

City taxpayers were footing a $352 nightly bill per migrant, according to the paper, with just $130 of that going to the hotels for housing. The rest went to costs like social services, food and cleaning.

Mayor Eric Adams is also putting an end to the city’s debit card program that paid out $3.2 million to 2,600 migrant families, according to Gothamist.

In Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson announced plans this week to close multiple shelters by Dec. 1, according to Block Club Chicago. The Windy City’s largest, a temporary shelter housing 1,500 migrants in the Inn of Chicago, shutters Friday. 

That comes weeks after the city shut down a “landing zone” for newly arrived illegal immigrants to be sorted into shelters exclusively for migrants.

“We are shifting to a more cost-effective, equitable and strategic approach that addresses homelessness for all who need support in the city of Chicago,” Johnson said in late October. “This transition is in line with the sharp decline in migration to Chicago and our current budget realities.”

And in Massachusetts, a state panel is recommending making steep cuts after a study projected it would cost taxpayers there $1 billion to include migrants in the homeless shelter system in 2025, the Boston Herald reported Wednesday.

The state launched a resettlement agency and other programs to help house migrants in September 2023, according to a draft of the state panel’s report. That November, the state’s shelter system reached its capacity amid an influx of migrants.

North Carolina’s Child Fatality Task Force met with lawmakers Wednesday to suggest ways North Carolina gun storage laws can be strengthened.

The initiative is asking for a change in the way laws written on the subject are worded and to request more funding to go to the education of how people safely store guns.

“The time it takes you to lock up is the same to put a seatbelt on or put your child in a child safety seat,” said William Lassiter, the deputy secretary for the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention for the Department of Public Safety. “Those few seconds can save you from a lifetime of tragedy.”

Currently, firearms are one of the top causes of death for children in the state. The state also ranks 12th in the U.S. for young lives lost to gun violence.

“Recommendations from the Task Force for 2024 reflect a continued focus on the importance of firearm safe storage through seeking sustained funding for the NC S.A.F.E. firearm safety campaign and the newly created NC Office of Violence Prevention, as well as an effort to strengthen the state’s child access prevention law,” said their most recent report from the Child Fatality Task Force.  

“Other 2024 recommendations continue the Task Force’s work on suicide prevention and the youth mental health crisis by seeking sustained funding for more school nurses, social workers, counselors, and psychologists and through endorsing legislation that targets addictive social media algorithms that harm kids.”

Lawmakers are also asking for changes in how adults are charged when children gain access to guns when it leads to bodily harm or death.

Currently, North Carolina laws say that only gun owners who live in a home with children can be held responsible for not safely storing their guns. A vote on Wednesday recommended changing that by removing the residency requirement. This will make all gun owners liable for the safe storage of their guns.

They are also suggesting a recurring budget of more than $2 million in funding for NC S.A.F.E., a campaign that is aimed at educating people about safe gun storage.

“We’ve given out 60,000 gun locks,” Lassiter said. “People are really wanting these resources so they can actually do the right thing in their homes.”

All items discussed at the assembly will now go to the General Assembly and members of the task force will work alongside lawmakers to get them into legislation.

The newly confirmed chief of the Los Angeles Police Department made it clear during a recent hearing that his department will “not assist” with the “mass deportations” in comments that sparked social media backlash.

“Since my appearance before the committee on public safety, the national election has caused many Angelenos to feel a deep, deep fear, especially in the immigrant community,” new LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said at a November 8 city council meeting before being sworn in as the department’s 59th chief. 

“I have met with members of the community and heard that fear. We also heard some of that just now at public comment. I know we’ll speak more about immigration later in this hearing, but I want to be unequivocally clear here in my opening comments,” McDonnell continued. “LAPD will protect our immigrant community, LAPD officers will not take action to determine a person’s immigration status, and will not arrest someone for their status, and LAPD will not assist with mass deportations.”

McDonnell went on to say that Los Angeles is a “city of immigrants.”

“I know immigrants are being disparaged right now,” McDonnell said. “But I want the people of Los Angeles to know my viewpoint. Our nation was built by immigrants and L.A. is such an extraordinary city because of people here from literally all over the world.”

McDonnell’s comments sparked criticism from conservatives on social media and a clip of the hearing was posted on X by the popular conservative account LibsofTikTok.

“Who wants to tell him that they’re getting deported whether he likes it or not,” the account posted.

“Time to send in the Feds,” conservative influencer Harrison Krank posted on X.

“Get out of California while you still can!” political commentator Gunther Eagleman posted on X.

McDonnell, while previously serving as LA County Sheriff during Trump’s first term, worked with federal immigration agents to deport illegal alien criminals, Los Angeles Times reported, but said during the hearing he would not do so in his current role while pointing to specific policy, including Special Order 40, that prohibits it.

McDonnell was pressed in the hearing by Los Angeles City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez on the issue of immigration pointing to the “seismic shift in the national landscape” and asked him to talk about what “protections are guaranteed” for Los Angeles residents illegally living in the United States.

TRUMP SAYS MASS DEPORTATIONS ‘NOT A QUESTION OF A PRICE TAG’

“We don’t stop somebody, we don’t arrest somebody, we don’t deal with people based on their immigration status, everybody gets to be treated equally across the city and so we will continue with that as part of who we are,” McDonnell said in the hearing.

“That’s also bolstered in recent years by the Trust Act and California Values Act in more recent years so the path forward is very clear,” McDonnell said. “LAPD is here to serve all of our communities, immigration is not a factor in how we deal with any individual or any group of people in any of our communities, the way we’re successful as a police organization is if when a crime occurs people are willing to come forward as a witness, as a victim, and be able to be part of the criminal justice process to hold people accountable for their crimes.

The Trust Act became law in California in 2014, after being signed by then Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown, and limits the amount of time and reasons ICE hold requests can be honored by local jails.

A Cato Institute report in 2018 concluded that deportations went down in the city of Los Angeles after the Trust Act and dropped 39% while the rest of the country experienced a 9% drop.

McDonnell told Rodriguez he will be “very clear” about these immigration positions to whoever he talks to, regardless of “what we hear as part of the rhetoric of political discourse.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the LAPD asking whether McDonnell believes it is “wrong” to deport criminal illegal aliens and whether his department would assist in that effort but did not receive a response.

“If they’re not willing to help, then get the hell out of the way because [Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)] is going to do their job,” Tom Homan, who was acting ICE director during the first Trump administration and was recently named “border czar” under Trump, told Fox News Digital in an interview on Friday about jurisdictions that oppose a deportation effort.

Homan also pledged that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would be empowered to go after the 425,000 illegal immigrants convicted of crimes and currently roaming free in the United States, according to a recent ICE report.

“We’re going to go get them,” Homan told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. 

“And I saw today numerous governors from sanctuary states saying they’re going to step in the way. They better get the hell out of the way. Either you help us or get the hell out of the way, because ICE is going to do their job. We’re going to take the handcuffs off ICE that the Biden Administration put on them and let ICE do what they do, what they do best,” he added.

Firefighters in Scottsdale, Arizona, responded to an unusual call on Wednesday after a driver noticed a large snake sticking out from under his pickup truck.

Aaron Ricks, who was driving from Mesa to Scottsdale, called the nonemergency police line after he parked and noticed a large snake – identified as a boa constrictor – sticking its head out from under his truck, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

“I thought it was a grocery bag or some sort of plastic. Maybe I ran over something,” he told the outlet. “So I walked back over to the truck to see what it was, and was totally shocked to see this big ol’ snake looking down and looking right back at me.”

Police transferred Ricks to the Scottsdale Fire Department and firefighters answered the call.

Once they arrived at Ricks’ truck, the fire department said crew members “carefully removed the vehicle’s undercarriage skid plate” in order to access and remove the boa constrictor.

The snake was not harmed during the removal and was turned over to the Arizona Herpetological Society, the department said.

Mason Brill of the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary told FOX 10 the snake might have suffered a minor burn from being so close to the truck’s motor, but there were no major injuries.

“A lot of times when animals go into engines, it’s never good,” Brill said. “They get caught in a belt or they get essentially cooked, so this girl is pretty unscathed. Maybe she has a minor burn right here, but nothing too serious.”

If the snake is somebody’s pet, which is what the fire department suggested based on her appearance, Brill said they can contact the sanctuary to arrange for pickup. 

If an owner doesn’t come forward, the snake will live the rest of her life at the sanctuary if she can’t be adopted out.

A Georgia town is mourning the loss of a veteran lineman who was killed in a workplace accident.

Eric Weems died Wednesday after he and another lineman, Trent Granger, were involved in a workplace “accident” involving equipment failure on Spalding Street in Griffin, Georgia, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Granger is in critical, but stable condition, the City of Griffin said.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we inform our community of the tragic passing of our beloved lineman, Eric Weems. Eric sustained a catastrophic injury this morning while working on a project on Spalding Street,” the city wrote on Facebook.

Weems, who was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, celebrated his 19th year as a lineman in October, according to a video posted by the city in 2020. In the video, Weems was explaining what it’s like to be a lineman in celebration of 2020 Georgia Cities Week.

He was also featured by the city in 2017 for Lineman Appreciation Month with a short video explaining why he loves his career.

Weems said one of his favorite parts about being a lineman is getting the power back on for families with children during the winter when their homes are cold.

“You couldn’t buy that feeling. That’s a big part of why I do what I do,” Weems said, adding that “the gratification you get from getting those people’s lights on is overwhelming.”

Weems was also part of a mutual aid crew that went to Quitman, Georgia, to help restore power to those impacted by Hurricane Helene, the city said on Oct. 3.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp also commented on the tragic incident, sharing his condolences to the city and the loved ones of both Weems and Granger.

“As our state and local communities rebuild from devastating storms, it is because of the dangerous work done by our linemen that we are able to be on the road to recovery,” Kemp wrote.

“Marty, the girls and I are deeply saddened by this tragic news and ask all Georgians to keep the Griffin linemen, their families, and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers in these difficult times.”

“We ask that our community allow the family, friends, and colleagues to mourn the loss and pray for healing for two of our own. We will continue to provide updates on Trent as we receive them. Together, we grieve,” the city wrote.

Griffin is south of Atlanta and is considered part of the city’s metro area.
