China is set to allow wholly foreign-owned hospitals in nine regions, including Beijing and Shanghai, to attract foreign investment and improve healthcare quality. The policy excludes traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and bars foreign mergers with public hospitals. Guidelines for establishing these hospitals will be released soon.
