Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, has been granted parole just before the Haryana Assembly polls. This decision was recommended by the Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana after a report from state authorities and a request for emergency parole. The assembly polls are scheduled for October 5.
