Renowned Indian heart surgeon Dr K M Cherian, who was instrumental in several pioneering cardiac surgeries in India including the first successful coronary artery bypass and heart transplant, passed away at the age of 82. Dr Cherian had collapsed in Bangalore and was declared dead late Saturday night.
