Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will work on upgrading the aviation system, and then fired back at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after she weighed in.

“Big News – Talked to the DOGE team. They are going to plug in to help upgrade our aviation system,” Duffy noted in a post on X.

Clinton chimed in, tweeting, “They have no relevant experience. Most of them aren’t old enough to rent a car. And you’re going to let them mess with airline safety that’s already deteriorated on your watch?”

Business tycoon Elon Musk — who is spearheading the DOGE effort to uncover government waste, fraud, and abuse — indicated that the team will seek to swiftly implement “safety upgrades to the air traffic control system.”

“With the support of President @realDonaldTrump, the @DOGE team will aim to make rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system. Just a few days ago, the FAA’s primary aircraft safety notification system failed for several hours!” he noted in a post when responding to Duffy’s announcement.

EXCLUSIVE: A leading nonprofit public advocacy group that focuses on healthcare and aligns with Democrats is launching an ad blitz targeting Republican House lawmakers as part of what it touts as its $10 million “Hands Off Medicaid” campaign.

The group, called Protect Our Care, says their push aims to expose what they say is the choice for members of Congress between protecting Medicaid “or giving away new tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy.”

The group says the ads will run through next week as House Republicans work to finish their budget resolution, which the group argues could lead to tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and cuts to Medicaid and other critical programs for working class and low-income people.

“It’s unfathomable why anyone would want to gut Medicaid, but Republicans are openly floating cuts to care for seniors, working people and kids., Protect Our Care chair Leslie Dach charged in a statement to Fox News.

Dach claimed that “the American people overwhelmingly support Medicaid and will not stand for these extreme attempts to rip away coverage from those who need it most just to give billionaires another tax cut.”

And the narrator in one of the two commercials the group is launching asks, “Which do you think should happen? A billionaire gets a bigger yacht or this child has Medicaid to get the healthcare they need?”

“Some in Congress want to cut their care to pay for this,” the narrator argues. “Call your member of Congress. Tell them to protect Medicaid.”

As congressional Republicans aim to reduce the nation’s massive budget deficit and enact Trump’s domestic agenda, some conservative members are mulling changes to Medicaid, the nearly 60-year-old federal government program that provides health insurance for adults and children with limited incomes.

That could potentially put some congressional Republicans at odds with the new president.

Trump, on the presidential campaign trail the past two years and the past couple of weeks since returning to power in the White House, has repeatedly pledged not to cut Medicaid, except for cases of fraud and abuse.

And House Speaker Johnson has made clear he doesn’t seek to reduce any benefits.

“We’re not talking about in any way reducing benefits,” Johnson said recently as he discussed potential changes to Medicaid, along with Medicare and Social Security. “What we’re talking about is efficiencies in the programs to make them work better for the people who receive those benefits and to make them longer lasting to sustain the programs.”

Federal Communication Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr knocked CBS News’ conduct following the release of the network’s unedited transcript of its “60 Minutes” interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

The FCC released the raw transcript and footage it obtained from CBS News of its October 2024 sit-down with Harris that has been at the center of controversy. 

“CBS’s conduct is hard to explain,” Carr told Fox News Digital. “On the one hand, CBS immediately released the unredacted transcript of a recent interview with Vice President Vance. Yet for months they refused to release the one with Vice President Harris.”

Carr referred to CBS News’ releasing the transcript of “Face the Nation” anchor Margaret Brennan’s interview with Vice President JD Vance last month.

“The FCC has now opened up a proceeding and is seeking public comment on the News Distortion complaint. Transparency here is important. The FCC’s review will continue, and we look forward to the public’s feedback,” Carr added. 

CBS News did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. 

The raw transcript showed CBS News had aired only the first half of her response to “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker’s question about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not “listening” to the Biden administration in a preview clip that aired on “Face the Nation,” but aired only the second half of her response during the primetime special. 

“But it seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening,” Whitaker said in the exchange. “The Wall Street Journal said that he — that your administration has repeatedly been blindsided by Netanyahu, and in fact, he has rebuffed just about all of your administration’s entreaties.”

“Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region. And we’re not going to stop doing that. We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end,” Harris responded.

CBS News separately released the raw transcript and unedited footage from the interview on its website. 

“We are posting the same transcripts and videos of our interview with Vice President Kamala Harris that we provided to the FCC. They show – consistent with 60 Minutes’ repeated assurances to the public – that the 60 Minutes broadcast was not doctored or deceitful,” CBS News wrote. In reporting the news, journalists regularly edit interviews – for time, space or clarity. In making these edits, 60 Minutes is always guided by the truth and what we believe will be most informative to the viewing public – all while working within the constraints of broadcast television.”  

The network went on to say it aired a “longer portion” of Harris’ answer on “Face the Nation” while airing a “shorter excerpt” during the primetime special without acknowledging that none of what aired in the preview clip was featured on “60 Minutes.”

“As the full transcript shows, we edited the interview to ensure that as much of the vice president’s answers to 60 Minutes’ many questions were included in our original broadcast while fairly representing those answers. 60 Minutes’ hard-hitting questions of the vice president speak for themselves,” CBS News added.

Carr ordered CBS News to hand over the unedited transcript as part of its investigation into whether the network violated the FCC’s “news distortion” policy after a complaint was filed.

“The policy says you can’t swap answers out to make it look like somebody said something entirely different,” Carr told Fox News’ Dana Perino on Monday, later adding it would have been “fine” if it was edited for length and clarity.

In a preview clip that aired on “Face the Nation,” Whitaker asked his Netanyahu question to Harris about him not “listening” to the U.S. 

“Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region,” Harris responded in the “Face the Nation” clip.

Harris was mocked by conservatives for offering a lengthy “word salad” to Whitaker. But when that same question aired the following night in the primetime election special, a shorter, more focused answer from the vice president followed.

“We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end,” Harris said.

Critics accused CBS News of editing Harris’ “word salad” answer to shield the vice president from further backlash, and there were calls for the network to release the full transcript after it only shared transcripts of what had aired. CBS News refused to release the raw transcript at the time.

In October, Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News alleging election interference over its handling of the “60 Minutes” interview, accusing the network of aiding his Democratic rival through deceptive editing just days before the election. 

“To paper over Kamala’s ‘word salad’ weakness, CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news,” the lawsuit stated.

Trump attorneys argued the edits were done in an effort to “attempt to tip the scales in favor of the Democratic Party as the heated 2024 Presidential Election — which President Trump is leading — approaches its conclusion.”

“CBS’ partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion calculated to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public,” the lawsuit read. 

CBS parent company Paramount Global is reportedly considering settling the suit ahead of a planned merger with Skydance Media in hopes of preventing potential retribution by Trump’s FCC, which has the authority to halt the multibillion-dollar transaction. Shari Redstone, Paramount’s controlling shareholder, is reportedly in favor of settling with the president.

Just one week after a midair collision near Reagan National Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are planning to brief senators.

The midair collision between a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and a Bombardier CRJ700 airliner was confirmed to have killed 67 people.

Since the crash, the FAA has imposed stricter restrictions on helicopter flights near the airport until late February, apart from police and medical transport, air defense and presidential air transport.

They also posted a notice restricting civilian airplanes from flying in the area when helicopters are present through March 31.

The plane’s flight data recorder indicated that it was struck at 325 feet by the helicopter on Wednesday night, and that prior to impact, there was a change in the aircraft’s pitch, according to preliminary information released on Saturday.

“Currently, the CRJ (plane) based on the data recorder at the time of impact was 325 feet, plus or minus 25 feet,” National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member Todd Inman said at a Saturday news conference. “And for those who follow this closely, that is a corrected altitude.”

“I can tell you at one point, very close to the impact, there was a slight change in pitch, an increase in pitch,” he added later, when asked whether the plane pulled up.

While air traffic control data had the plane’s altitude at 200 feet at impact, Inman said they “have not finalized that and need to get more granularity to it,” and that data from the Black Hawk’s recorder is also needed to answer for the apparent 100-foot difference in altitude.

A subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives will hold a hearing on Thursday on how regulatory policy impacts the prevention of natural disasters, with a focus on the deadly wildfires that ravaged Southern California last month.

The GOP-led House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform and Antitrust will kick off the hearing, titled “California Fires and the Consequences of Overregulation,” at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Not only will the hearing examine how regulatory policy in the Golden State has affected the prevention of natural disasters, specifically wildfires, it will also address how “excessive regulation” on insurance and permitting slows down recovery.

Days after the fires began, California Gov. Gavin Newsom suspended regulations related to rebuilding, waiving permitting requirements based on the California Coastal Act and the California Environmental Quality Act to allow for a quicker rebuilding process.

In the wake of the fires, a March 2024 announcement from California’s largest private insurer, State Farm, stating that it was discontinuing coverage for 72,000 home and apartment policies resurfaced, generating backlash and questions surrounding the accessibility of insurance in that area specifically.

The insurer said a letter sent to the California Department of Insurance (CDI) shortly after that announcement was an “alarm signaling the grave need for rapid and transformational action.”

Now, State Farm is asking the CDI to “immediately approve” a 22% rate increase for non-tenant homeowners, a 15% increase for renters and condo owners, and 38% for rental dwellings.

The increased rates are to help “avert a dire situation,” State Farm said, and would go into effect on May 1, 2025.

Witnesses at the hearing include Steve Hilton, founder of Golden Together; Steven Greenhut, R Street Institute resident senior fellow and western region director; and Edward Ring, who oversees Water and Energy Policy at the California Policy Center.

“This is a fine conversation to have, and we welcome it. The value of POLITICO subscriptions is validated daily in the marketplace. Some parts of today’s conversation, however, were confusing and left some people with false understandings. For this reason, we want you to hear from us on several points.”

Politico did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt vowed any government funding Politico had been receiving will end as President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cracks down on spending. 

“I can confirm that the more than $8 million taxpayer dollars that have gone to, essentially, subsidizing subscriptions to Politico on the American taxpayers dime, will no longer be happening,” Leavitt said during Wednesday’s press briefing.

“The DOGE team is working on canceling those payments now,” she continued. “This is a whole government effort to assure that we are going line by line when it comes to the federal government’s books.”

There was speculation on social media that the $8 million in question all came from USAID, the agency currently being targeted by DOGE co-founder Elon Musk, but only $44,000 of it came from that agency. Base subscriptions are typically between $12,000 and $15,000 for three users. 

Politico received taxpayer funding for its costly subscription service from elsewhere in the federal government. The Department of Health and Human Services led the way, with $1.37 million followed by $1.35 million from the Department of the Interior, according to USAspending.gov. 

The Department of Energy paid Politico $1.29 million, the Department of Agriculture paid $552,024 and the Department of Commerce paid $485,572.

Parents in Montgomery County, Maryland, are fighting for the right for their families to opt out of mandatory LGBTQ story books in their children’s school and their case is now headed to the Supreme Court.

A coalition of Jewish, Christian and Muslim parents of school-age children in Montgomery County Public Schools have brought a lawsuit against the school board, alleging it is violating their religious freedoms protected under the First Amendment, by forcing their young children to participate in instruction contrary to their religious beliefs.

The controversy began in November 2022 when the Montgomery County Public Schools introduced new LGBTQ books into the curriculum as part of the district’s “inclusivity” initiative. According to Becket, a legal group representing the parents’ case, the books “champion pride parades, gender transitioning and pronoun preferences for children.”

While the school board initially allowed parents to opt their children out of this curriculum, according to Becket, the board quickly reversed course, announcing in March 2023 that an opt-out would not be granted and that parents would not be notified before the books were introduced into their children’s classrooms. 

PARENTS ASK SUPREME COURT TO TAKE UP CASE TO RESTORE OPT-OUTS FOR INSTRUCTION ON GENDER AND SEXUALITY

The parents sued the school in May 2023, but the district court ruled against the parents. Becket appealed the decision to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, which affirmed the lower court’s ruling against the parents, in a 2-1 decision, saying they had not shown how the policy violated their children’s First Amendment rights.

On January 17, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear the case of Mahmoud v. Taylor, during its 2024-2025 term.

Grace Morrison, one of the plaintiffs in the case, is a mother of seven children who lives in Montgomery County. Her youngest child, who has Down’s Syndrome and other special needs, was attending public school and headed into fourth grade when she was made aware of the new school policy.

Morrison and her husband are Catholic and were concerned that the ideology presented in these books not only violated their religious convictions but also was inappropriate, given her daughter’s age and intellectual ability.

“We felt as parents that we would present these things to our children like we always have, when they’re ready to receive them. And especially a child with special needs, it’s even more difficult for her to understand,” Morrison told Fox News Digital.

“Starting to present issues of gender ideology to a child like this could be extremely confusing and damaging, let alone to the faith that we’re raising her in.”

Morrison and her husband ended up pulling their daughter from school the following October, after the district court rejected the parents’ plea for an opt-out.

They’ve since been homeschooling their daughter, which Morrison says has been a “beautiful” but also “challenging” experience. 

Her daughter is now no longer able to access the therapy and resources that she had received through the public school, costing her family an extra $25,000 a year to provide her with the appropriate academic services and therapy she needs at home, according to court documents.

“While it’s been a blessing, it is also a financial burden that we didn’t expect at this point, but there was no way that we could leave her in the school system and just hope for the best. We weren’t going to do that,” Morrison told Fox News Digital.

According to Becket, the Montgomery County School Board in Maryland is one of the few school boards across the nation to ban notices and opt-outs for parents on sexuality and gender instruction.

The legal group said that 38 states, including Washington, D.C., require opt-out options for parents. Six states require a combination of opt-in and opt-out rights, while four states require opt-ins from parents before instruction begins, and three states do not mention opt-out policies but do not have a policy banning them either.

Becket attorney William Haun told Fox News Digital that they will center their argument before the Supreme Court on the parents’ First Amendment rights being violated by this school policy, saying that the Free Exercise clause protects the authority of parents, even with children in public schools, to opt out of instruction that would interfere with their child’s religious development.

“Particularly here, when you’re talking about three-year-olds, four-year-olds, children who have special needs, children who are in elementary school, this is a highly impressionable time when children implicitly trust their teachers. And you’re going to matters that really strike at the heart of parental authority because they go to the heart of who the child is,” Haun said.

“If parents don’t have authority there, it’s hard to imagine where they would,” he continued. 

The attorney clarified that they are not asking MCPS to remove these books but are focusing on the right of parents to opt-out.

The Montgomery County Board of Education said they are “unable to make a statement on pending legal action at the time.”

COVID-19 killed at least 7 million people worldwide and more than a million in the United States. The “official” worldwide deaths number is very low because China and other totalitarian states didn’t report accurately (just as China concealed the source of the virus) and poor countries had no infrastructure for counting and reporting. But COVID was the deadliest pandemic in the world since the Spanish flu that appeared at the end of World War I. 
 
“Long COVID” impacted hundreds of thousands of Americans and still does though many have recovered or are recovering completely. It’s a debilitating suite of symptoms that follow in the wake of the virus and while recovery has occurred for many, and is occurring for more, getting through “long COVID” often only occurs after years of rest and treatment. 
 
There are parallels in the media, both legacy and new media, to COVID and “Long COVID,” parallels that are useful to spell out. The parallels present life and death issues for the news platforms involved and the careers of those afflicted.

“Trump Derangement Syndrome” was real and on open display before and most certainly after President Donald Trump’s shock win in 2016, which was certainly the biggest upset in modern American political history. 

That shock destabilized a lot of news organizations and many “reporters” and analysts. They could not recover their balance, could not report objectively on the good things that Trump accomplished in his first term. They focused solely and sometimes obsessively on false narratives about him or on his faults and mistakes, many of which were also utterly false like “Russia, Russia, Russia.” 
 
“Trump hatred” combined in some places with “Fox News hatred/envy” to destroy the credibility of many people and platforms. Audience shares plummeted. If those individuals haven’t outright lost their jobs, they and their platforms have lost some, if not most of their audience. TDS was a killer of credibility. (Diagnostic tool: If you couldn’t write or produce a detailed story about the greatness of the Abraham Accords then you definitely had TDS.) 
 
Most people and platforms in the news business recovered some or most of their balance during the long, slow descent of the Biden administration into paralysis and confusion, a decline in direction and achievement that mirrored Biden’s physical decline. When Trump won overwhelmingly in November and did it so decisively that only ideologues could not see the significance of the vote, many with “TDS” forced themselves “on to the wagon” and abandoned reflexive “Trump hatred.”   

As with all 12-step programs, first they had to admit they had a problem. Many did. Bravo. Some haven’t and their business model is simply to settle for super-serving the hard left or the irreconcilable right in the country. Fine.

BUT … there are now appearing in the third week of the second Trump presidency signs that “long TDS” is real and potentially widespread. Many journalists and analysts have “fallen off the wagon” concerning their pledge — internal and sometimes public — to cover Trump objectively, and have reverted to reflexive “Orange Man Bad.” It seeps into many posts on X, many stories from legacy media, many podcasts across the ideological spectrum. 
 
In a nutshell, “long TDS” disables a reporter or analyst from even seeing the possibility of method and goals that Trump routinely deploys. They dislike him so much for various reasons —often aesthetic, sometimes policy-driven, often because they are partisans who won’t admit that fact to themselves or their audience — that they use the language of psychiatry to describe political actions: Trump is “crazy,” Trump is a “lunatic,” Trump is wildly undisciplined, always acting as a narcissist, always impulsive and caught in policy contradictions. They never entertain, even if only to dismiss, that he has plans and he’s executing them. 
 
I often disagree with the president (e.g. most recently on removing security details from targets of Iranian lethal retribution in our own country — a potential assassination or attack that could kill or injure past public servants and which would deal a terrible blow to his presidency.) Even more recently I was very wary of tariffs on Canada, but I suspect a non-economic motive there and with Mexico involving messaging to everyone in the world intending to cross our borders illegally or to continue their fentanyl distribution. Disagree with the effectiveness or the result but to not even entertain the idea that there’s a plan and he executed on it is a sure sign of “long TDS.”

The residence of a legendary king was recently discovered in the United Kingdom – all thanks to an 11th century toilet.

Newcastle University announced the discovery of Harold Godwinson’s – aka King Harold II – residence in Bosham, a village on the coast of West Sussex, England, according to a news release published Jan. 28. Harold, one of the subjects of the Bayeux Tapestry, was famously killed in the Battle of Hastings in 1066. 

His Bosham residence was depicted twice in the tapestry, but the remnants of the residence were unknown until now. Harold was the last Anglo-Saxon king of England, and he was succeeded by the Norman king William the Conqueror.

Describing the formerly lost site as a “power center,” the university says Bosham was where Harold dined before sailing to France.

“The Tapestry culminates in Williams’s victory at Hastings, but earlier in the artwork Bosham is shown as the place where Harold enjoys a feast in an extravagant hall before setting sail for France, and again on his return,” Newcastle University noted. 

“The location of Harold’s residence at Bosham has never been proved, although it has been suggested that a house in the village — now a private home — stands on the site.”

By conducting a geophysical survey and analyzing maps and records, historians were able to gather new information about the site, which had been previously excavated in 2006.

In particular, the existence of a latrine within a large timber building suggests that the whole building once belonged to a high-status figure.

“In the past decade or so archaeologists have begun to recognize a trend in England, beginning during the 10th century AD, for high-status houses to integrate toilets,” the university release explained.

“The discovery of the latrine therefore indicated to the team that the timber building was of elite status, and almost certainly represents part of Harold’s residence illustrated on the Bayeux Tapestry,” the statement added. “The hall was one part of a more extensive complex, that also included a church, which still survives.”

Newcastle professor Dr. Duncan Wright said that he was certain that the site was, in fact, Harold’s Bosham residence, according to the release.

“The realization that the 2006 excavations had found, in effect, an Anglo-Saxon en-suite confirmed to us that this house sits on the site of an elite residence pre-dating the Norman Conquest,” Wright explained. “Looking at this vital clue, alongside all our other evidence, it is beyond all reasonable doubt that we have here the location of Harold Godwinson’s private power center, the one famously depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry.”

University of Exeter professor Oliver Creighton, who was involved in the project, echoed Wright’s sentiment.

“The Norman Conquest saw a new ruling class supplant an English aristocracy that has left little in the way of physical remains, which makes the discovery at Bosham hugely significant — we have found an Anglo-Saxon show-home,” he said.

It is not unusual for 11th-century objects to be discovered in England today. 

Archaeologists recently unearthed 1,000-year-old treasure consisting of more than 300 coins. The coins were issued between 1036 and 1044, which predates the Battle of Hastings by two decades.

Veteran standup comic Ari Shaffir wants his comedy to snap people out of their social media and partisan news bubbles so they can smell the roses for once.

The comic says the message behind his latest Netflix special, “America’s Sweetheart,” is that life is much better than the news headlines make it out to be.

“The world is way better than people are giving it credit for. Almost everybody is not racist. Almost everybody is not a dimwit. People are generally kind to each other and hold the door open for each other,” Shaffir said in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.

The comedian, who has been a standup comedy fixture since the 2000s, told Fox he filmed “America’s Sweetheart” in Washington, D.C., last year ahead of a contentious presidential election, just so he could skewer the country’s obsession with politics and partisan news headlines in the town that thrives on them the most.

“And I decided D.C. because I wanted to take this, like, get-away-from-politics view – there’s good about everything,” he said. “My message was like – back when it was Biden, when he was whatever – and I’m like, ‘Biden made you realize that your father’s in pretty good mental shape and Trump made women come together.’”

“Like, these are good things,” Shaffir quipped.

The comic’s latest special is built on finding the bright side of issues that many Americans find to be highly contentious or downright offensive. “Let me show you how to find some joy in every one of these subjects,” he told Fox News. 

In one long stretch of his set, the comedian practically berated the crowd, and America at large, for canceling famous artists and their cultural contributions, all because they said things that were deemed offensive at one point in their careers. 

He brought up the outrage over rapper Kanye West’s antisemitic statements, taking the position that his insensitive remarks should not obscure the rapper’s music from the public’s view.

“So, I had this bit about Kanye West and how everybody said he was antisemitic, and I’m like, ‘Are we mentioning music? Are we just ignoring his music?’ That’s crazy because he’s one of the best ever at that, and we’re ignoring an amazing part of the world to focus on some lunatic artist’s tweets. We shouldn’t have even read them.’”

Shaffir, who was raised as an Orthodox Jew, added, “That’s crazy. That’s crazy.”

“It’s like watching Johnny Depp’s love life. We did that for that too,” Shaffir remarked. “What the f— do I care about his love life? Become a pirate. That’s all I want to see. Be a pirate and make me believe it. You’re great at that.”

Shaffir told Fox that his whole approach with “America’s Sweetheart” is to say that “the world is way better than your industry gives us, gives it credit for,” referring to the media.

“It’s actually amazing and all you see when you see the news is how terrible and how the sky is falling, and then you actually go outside and everyone’s actually kind of nice to each other and friendly.”

Of course, Shaffir, who happily admits that his special is “degenerate, dirty” and “filthy,” also takes this bright side shtick to an absurd level just to see how far he can go to get a laugh, even joking about tragedies. 

The 50-year-old comic is no stranger to pushing the envelope with his standup routines, telling Fox it’s a crucial part of his style. 

“It’s like, OK, I mean, I could do easier bits that wouldn’t like, make people leave angry,” he said, adding, “But I really want a hard-fought laugh. Those are my favorite laughs, where there really is a risk of making somebody go, ‘F— you. My dad died in that.’”

The comic clarified that the point of the highly offensive jokes “is always to get [people] to laugh.” Still, he said getting “two or three walking out angry – that’s really what you want.”

“If no one’s walking out, you haven’t found the line yet,” he continued. “For me, the stuff I like is right on that line where a few people are leaving angry, and I’m like, good riddance.”

Shaffir added that he loves joking about issues that “people care too much about,” and lately, that’s been politics.

A Maryland native, the comic mentioned how he developed his standup style after moving out to Los Angeles after college. He started off as a screenwriter in Hollywood, but that career slowly gave way to his love for standup.

“But then pretty much as soon as I got to LA, it was like the screenwriting just faded away. I just fell in love with being on stage, taking chances, taking risks,” Shaffir said. He described his wild early days learning the ropes in West Hollywood’s now famous “Comedy Store,” sometimes doing shows in front of nobody.

Referring to them as the “dark years,” Shaffir said, “It was evil. We were like doing crazy stuff. We had like, gambling rings in the back. People would be hooking up in the back. It was just like, crazy stuff would happen there – drug use and just like – it was awesome. But there was no crowd.”

“Every two weeks we’d have a show where just – there was no show, cause nobody showed up,” he recalled. “So, because of that, we just got used to failure.”

Shaffir said that he did standup in Los Angeles for 10 to 12 years before he “just got sick of” the city, noting that he got “too familiar with the streets” and that it was “too segregated.” 

He also said it was “harder to break in, in L.A,” compared to other big comedy cities in the U.S. “It’s so disheartening,” he explained. “The open mics, the low-level stuff is so s—–.  It’s so s—– that almost all my funny friends, like, failed out. There’s no positive feedback ever. It’s just terrible.”

He attributed his success in the city to being “lucky.”

Shaffir ditched L.A. for New York City – where he currently lives – saying it was “great” and preferable to living and doing comedy in Los Angeles. 

“The scene is the best by far – by a long shot,” he declared, though he still expressed his appreciation for his former home, stating, “L.A. is still a great comedy scene. I don’t want to like s— on it.”

The comic also spoke to Fox News Digital about his multiple podcasts and commented on how longform media has changed the comedy landscape in the modern era.

Shaffir has hosted several podcasts in recent years, including one named “Skeptic Tank” and another called, “You Be Trippin’,” where he speaks to famous guests about some of their favorite travel stories.

He mentioned how podcasting is so much freer than traditional forms of comedy media, like network late night shows. Shaffir recalled how actor Rob Lowe was in his podcast studio marveling at the freedom they had in producing the episode.

“He’s in here and he’s talking about like, ’Oh these are so much better than The Tonight Show.’ I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He goes, ‘It’s like 12 minutes. You don’t’ really get to say what you want to say. Here, you really get to go into stuff.’”

Expressing his own opinion, the comic continued, “The longform is just helpful. We don’t have rules. You know?”

“But yeah, these podcasts give you such freedom. No one’s saying, ‘Don’t book that guy,'” Shaffir said, talking about new media.

He added, “So, it’s like. You can do whatever you want. That’s a nice freedom, to be like, ‘We don’t have to talk about anything, and there’s nothing we don’t – can’t talk about.’ YouTube will give you some rules about like, using certain words, but then like, you can still do it if you want. You’ll just make less money.”

Shaffir said that getting people out of their usual “routine” and getting them to talk freely is when “you get real gold.” 

His own desire for freedom and doing things on his own terms is why the comic is currently planning to take a break from standup and travel the world for the next year or so, even if it’s against the advice of his agents.

“I’m a big freedom guy and not in like the libertarian way – but more like, let me do what I want to do. So, like, I just sold two specials to Netflix and then, like, I’m planning on traveling the world for a year,” he said. “And my agents – you know, my Jews – are like, ‘What are you doing? During the past four years of vast illegal immigration and open border policies that ignored and violated the laws of our country, more than 200,000 Americans have died from fentanyl poisoning. Numerous other precious lives have been stolen by savage criminal illegal alien violence. 

I’m grateful to President Donald Trump for signing into law the Laken Riley Act, which will mandate the incarceration of illegal immigrants who commit further crimes as they prey on citizens and businesses across the nation. 

Had the Laken Riley Act been enacted and enforced in September 2023, Laken Riley’s murderer would have been detained and handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Of course, this is assuming sanctuary cities, like New York, complied with federal law and chose to be partners in removing the plague of criminal illegal aliens threatening our safety.

Sadly, rather than showing concern for victims of violent crime and support for upholding the most important responsibility of every government entity – the protection of its citizens – we are barraged with one radical politician after another, stepping over each other to “bravely” proclaim how their locale will resist enforcing the law while standing in solidarity with criminal aliens. 

TRUMP TACKLES AMERICA’S HIERARCHY OF TROUBLES

It’s not only far Left politicians in Boston, Chicago and California who are shielding criminal aliens. Unfortunately, we are seeing law enforcement officers and police chiefs openly state they will not work with ICE to turn over criminal aliens arrested in their jurisdictions. This is not just a dereliction of duty, this aberration of what a law enforcement officer should be doing is contributing to one of the most grave national security threats facing our country.

More Americans have been killed by illegal immigrant criminals, drug traffickers, human traffickers, cartels and violent alien gangs than any global terrorist organization. If local and state politicians or law enforcement agencies refuse to recognize this grim reality, then it is time to treat them as hostile toward the safety of our nation and our people.

Border czar Tom Homan has repeatedly stated that radical sanctuary ideology not only makes communities more dangerous, but makes the jobs of ICE and other participating agencies more dangerous as well. It is reprehensible that these “law enforcement officers” would endanger the brave men and women who are courageously putting their lives on the line to remove public safety threats.

WHY DO DEMOCRATS DEFEND VIOLENT, CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AGAINST TRUMP RAIDS?

We must directly confront this behavior, not only because it is making our country less safe, but because the American people have demanded that all levels of government work to secure the safety of our families and neighborhoods.

I know, firsthand, how successful, and beneficial, a relationship between local law enforcement and ICE can be for removing threats from a city. As a former councilwoman and mayor of a top 100 city, I helped start the City of Irving’s Criminal Alien Program, then known as CAP 24/7. 

During the course of that program and through our relationship with ICE, our local law enforcement was able to assist, during the normal course of their operations, in the apprehension and deportation of thousands of criminal illegal immigrants. Irving became the fifth-safest city in the United States, more businesses and families moved to Irving, and we enjoyed a virtuous cycle of growth and prosperity.

Unlike what we hear from the protestations of Leftist politicians, the communities and neighborhoods that benefited the most from the removal of these criminal elements were immigrant and low-income populations. In fact, many of the calls for police assistance came from these very households and neighborhoods because they were sick of the violence and terrorism. Only through police intervention and federal deportation could they get relief from the same criminals who preyed on them, over and over again.

Now that we have a Trump administration that is mercifully enforcing our existing immigration laws and aggressively working to remove threats from our country, we need action in Congress to confront the national security threats posed by sanctuary policies. That is why I introduced the No Congressional Funds for Sanctuary Cities Act, H.R. 205, which will prohibit community project funding from being allocated to sanctuary cities that hinder immigration enforcement efforts. 

We’re leveraging the power of the purse to give these sanctuary jurisdictions a choice: follow the law or relinquish your chance to receive congressional funds. These cities need to understand they cannot simply proclaim they will be a deterrent in enforcing duly enacted public safety laws. With my legislation, there will be consequences for their actions protecting criminal aliens, instead of the citizens they are sworn to keep safe.

The American people spoke with a loud and overwhelming voice this past November, demanding action to stop the threat from criminal illegal aliens. They demand our laws be followed, our borders be secured, and criminal aliens be removed from their communities. 

This is a national security issue of grave importance, which is why we must pass additional funding and support for ICE and Border Patrol operations, as well as deliver policies, like H.R. 205, which are a sharp rebuke to those who stand in the way of protecting the lives and livelihoods of all Americans.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Thursday he welcomes President Donald Trump’s proposal for large numbers of Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip as he instructed the IDF to prepare a plan in line with the controversial plan. 

Katz said Trump’s “bold plan” could “create extensive opportunities for those in Gaza who wish to leave.”

Trump’s plan initially stated that Gaza’s population would be “permanently” relocated while the United States rebuilds the territory, but U.S. officials later walked back those comments, saying the relocation would only be temporary.

“Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings, level it out, create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area,” he said. “Do a real job. Do something different. Just can’t go back. If you go back, it’s going to end up the same way it has for 100 years.”

Katz said he believes that the plan should include multiple exit options for any country willing to receive them.

“The plan will include exit options via land crossings, as well as special arrangements for departure by sea and air. Countries such as Spain, Ireland, Norway, and others, which have falsely accused Israel over its actions in Gaza, are legally obligated to allow Gazans to enter their territory. Their hypocrisy will be exposed if they refuse,” said Katz.

As of now, the plan has been rejected by the Palestinians as well as many in the international community who believe it is forcible displacement and violates international law. Rights groups said it would amount to forcible displacement in violation of international law.

Mexico has started to deploy the 10,000 troops it promised it would send to its border with the United States in response to President Donald Trump’s tariff threats as his administration cracks down on border security.

Troops with the Mexican National Guard and Army were seen arriving at the border separating Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

The two largest deployment sites are Ciudad Juárez and Tijuana, where at least 1,650 troops and 1,949 troops, respectively, are expected to be sent, according to the Mexican government via The AP.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to deploy troops to its northern border hours before Trump-approved tariffs on imports were set to go into effect in response to the drugs and illegal aliens flowing into the U.S. from Mexico.

“We need to protect Americans, and it is my duty as President to ensure the safety of all,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Saturday. “I made a promise on my Campaign to stop the flood of illegal aliens and drugs from pouring across our Borders, and Americans overwhelmingly voted in favor of it.”

Part of the deal Trump struck with Sheinbaum included his promise to combat the trafficking of American guns into Mexico that are fueling cartel violence.

Mexican patrols were already working along the border near Tijuana on Wednesday, The AP said, and service members along the bushy outskirts of Ciudad Juárez could also be seen removing makeshift ladders and ropes tucked into trenches.

“There will be permanent surveillance on the border,” National Guard leader José Luis Santos Iza told reporters as the first set of soldiers arrived. “This operation is primarily to prevent drug trafficking from Mexico to the United States, mainly fentanyl.”

Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Tom Cotton was instrumental in pushing Tulsi Gabbard’s controversial nomination to be Director of National Intelligence (DNI) past its first hurdle in the upper chamber this week, and it took a full court press to do so. 

Gabbard successfully advanced out of the Intel Committee this week, with all Republican members voting in her favor, despite concerns they would not. 

Cotton led the effort with a makeshift Gabbard confirmation “war room” and the enlisted assistance of former rebel Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, as well as former Intel Committee Chairman Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, according to a GOP Senate source with knowledge of Cotton’s efforts.

The “cordial and calculated” campaign to confirm President Donald Trump’s nominee for DNI saw close work between Gabbard’s confirmation sherpa team, the White House’s legislative affairs team and Vice President JD Vance, a former senator, the source told Fox News Digital.

The group assisted Gabbard in each step of the process. They helped with questions for the nominee submitted to the committee, queries from lawmakers, hearing preparation and even strategized on a last-minute op-ed to address any lingering concerns, the source said.

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman, penned an op-ed in Newsweek following her hearing, detailing, “Why I Am the Right Choice to Lead the Office of National Intelligence.”

The article addressed a significant point of concern for some undecided Republicans: Her refusal to call NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden a traitor.

Cotton also reportedly advised the White House on how to be particularly persuasive when it comes to courting senators for their crucial votes. He remained in close touch with Trump’s administration throughout Gabbard’s process leading up to the Intel Committee’s pivotal vote, according to the GOP Senate source.

Sinema, who recently retired from the Senate, spoke to two of her former Senate colleagues, Sens. Todd Young, R-Ind., and Susan Collins, R-Maine, who both ultimately voted to advance Gabbard despite concerns they may not, the source said. Also deployed to speak with committee members was former Trump National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien.

Cotton also kept in contact with Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., and his office during the process, which appeared precarious for Gabbard at times, as well as held meetings with the intel committee’s Republican members, the source told Fox News Digital.

Before Gabbard’s committee hearing, Cotton met with the nominee, along with Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, committee member Mike Rounds, R-S.D., and Burr, during which they prepared her for more than an hour to address specific committee Republicans’ concerns, the source said.

Now, Trump’s DNI pick will need to overcome a procedural vote in the full Senate before moving on to a final confirmation vote. However, Gabbard’s success in committee bodes well for her, given she locked down the support of several more hesitant Senate Republicans who are expected to continue supporting her on the chamber floor.

Southern California district attorneys are calling on Gov. Gavin Newsom to extend price gouging protections to further aid wildfire victims, calling it “a layup for the governor.”

“I mean, this to me seems like a no-brainer,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer told Fox News Digital. “I think the governor would absolutely want to protect the fire victims if they’re trying to find housing in surrounding counties.”

Newsom, a Democrat, issued an executive order in mid-January fast-tracking temporary housing aid to people displaced by the Southern California wildfires in Los Angeles County. California Attorney General Rob Bonta also said at the time that his office would prosecute those engaging in price gouging amid the natural disaster.

“As California’s Chief Law Enforcement Officer, I will hold to account those who seek to make a quick buck off our most vulnerable neighbors,” Bonta said in a post on X in mid-January, accompanied by a video statement. 

Spitzer, along with Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin, San Bernardino District Attorney Jason Anderson, and Santa Barbara District Attorney John Savrnoch, sent Newsom a letter in late January asking the governor to extend the price gouging protections to the surrounding areas but have stated they have not yet heard back from the governor.

Savrnoch and Spitzer told Fox News Digital in a statement that his office had yet to hear from the governor.

“We joined together to make this request in order to prevent rental property owners from compounding the tragedy imposed on those who are already suffering due to having lost their properties and been forced to uproot their lives.,” Savrnoch said in a statement. “We are seeking to prevent people from being able to profit from the suffering of others. I have not yet received a response from our request.”

In a request for comment, Newsom’s office told Fox News Digital, “Will let you know if there’s anything we can share.”

In the letter, dated Jan. 28, the district attorneys requested Newsom issue an additional declaration of emergency for the surrounding counties of Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Santa Barbara. The letter states that such a declaration would allow them to “aggressively prosecute those who seek to profit from victims who have lost everything in these unprecedented fires.”

“Thank you for your continued partnership in holding these individuals accountable and supporting our fellow Californians in the darkest hours of their darkest days,” the letter continues.

Currently in California, price gouging protections only come into play during a state of emergency and bars sellers, contractors, business owners, and other similar entities from charging more than 10% more than what they were charging or advertising before the crisis.

One of Newsom’s most recent executive orders extends the protections in L.A. County until March 8. 

Newsom also issued an executive order this week expanding price gouging protections “to leases of any length, rather than only leases of one year or less.”

State officials announced just last week that a second California realtor had been charged with allegedly price gouging victims of the deadly wildfires.

Bonta announced that the state was filing charges against a real estate agent, who was not named, alleging that they attempted to price gouge a family who was evacuated due to the Los Angeles Eaton Fire.

“It Ends with Us” stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are embroiled in a heated legal battle with “a number of ‘he said/she said’ allegations,” with the intimate scenes from their movie being the biggest points of contention.

Lively sued Baldoni in December for sexual harassment that allegedly took place while filming the Colleen Hoover-adapted film. The “Gossip Girl” star claimed an intimacy coordinator had not been present on set and later demanded one be at all times in a bulleted list of non-negotiable requests for her return to filming. However, in his own complaint, Baldoni shut down the idea that he choreographed sex scenes without an intimacy coordinator.

In his lawsuit, obtained by Fox News Digital, Baldoni explained an intimacy coordinator had been hired but that Lively had “refused to meet” with her. Baldoni included screenshots of text messages with a female producer to back up his claim. At the time, Baldoni had to meet alone with the intimacy coordinator to write the sex scenes and then relay the information to Lively.

“These meetings often took place, at Lively’s insistence, in the couple’s home, and often while Lively’s husband was present,” the lawsuit reads. “Lively’s method of work was unconventional and uncomfortable for Baldoni. To suggest Baldoni was the one who created this scenario is knowingly false.”

“Most egregiously, Lively later used these circumstances, created entirely by her, to accuse Baldoni of insisting Lively do ‘uncomfortable’ or ‘gratuitous’ scenes – scenes that were in fact proposed by the intimacy coordinator and by all accounts very typical asks of any actor performing simulated sex scenes. This is well-documented in handwritten notes Baldoni took during meetings with the intimacy coordinator and later read to Lively.”

According to Baldoni’s team, Lively demonstrated an “inability to discern the basic premise of the divide between collaborating on a film and personal interactions with her co-star and director,” which can be seen throughout her sexual harassment allegations. In her complaint, obtained by Fox News Digital, Lively accused Baldoni of personally adding “graphic content, including a scene in which Ms. Lively was to orgasm on camera.”

Baldoni hit back at the “false” claim saying, “During a creative meeting, which Lively requested to take place in her home, Baldoni read to her his notes from the intimacy coordinator, including a suggestion that Lively’s character orgasm during the scene, similar to the book. Lively remarked, ‘oh no, I’m too old for that’ and Baldoni offered another suggestion instead, also from his notes from the meeting with the intimacy coordinator. Baldoni then moved on.”

BLAKE LIVELY AND JUSTIN BALDONI LAWSUIT: MESSAGES EXPOSE ALLEGED LIES, THREATS AND INTIMATE SECRETS

While both lawsuits largely rely on each actors’ accounts of what occurred on the “It Ends with Us” movie set, Baldoni and Lively have produced what they both call concrete evidence.

“Although there are a number of ‘he said/she said’ allegations in both lawsuits, the parties also have produced other alleged evidence, including text messages, emails and videos, each of which are likely to play key roles in helping future jurors decide who they believe is more truthful, Lively or Baldoni,” Hollywood lawyer and mediator Angela Reddock-Wright told Fox News Digital.

“A key question in a sexual harassment case is whether the conduct alleged was welcome or unwelcome by the alleged victim,” the lawyer noted. Through Baldoni’s “detailed rebuttal,” the actor attempted to prove that his alleged conduct was not unwelcome and that “Lively herself engaged in alleged friendly banter and flirtatious conduct toward him” while working together, according to the legal expert.

“While Baldoni’s rebuttal alone does not prove his innocence, it does represent his effort to paint a different story than the story told by Lively and to plant alternative views in the minds of the public and potential jurors.”

In the meantime, Baldoni’s lawyers have “done a masterful job changing the narrative,” West Coast Trial Lawyers founder Neama Rahmani told Fox News Digital.

“In a case that is more about the court of public opinion than the courtroom, Baldoni went from being canceled, dropped by William Morris agency and having his women’s advocacy award rescinded to having overwhelming public support,” Rahmani explained. “Freedman’s strategy has been to share key pieces of evidence with the public, including the video of the rooftop scene, voice message to Lively and more text messages between the two. This supports Baldoni’s argument that the New York Times cherry-picked messages and presented a one-sided account of the case. It is also powerful evidence because people can lie, but video, audio and screenshots do not.”

“It’s still early, and Lively’s lawyer has said he will file an amended complaint this week, so I wouldn’t count her out,” the former federal prosecutor added. “But I think Lively and Reynolds underestimated Baldoni’s resolve and his lawyer’s effectiveness in trying this case inside and outside the courtroom. This reminds me a lot of Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard, a case that went to trial not because of money but to clear their respective names.”

Lively detailed allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, intentional affliction of emotional distress, negligence and more made by Baldoni and film producer Jamey Heath in a complaint first filed with the California Civil Rights Department and later in federal court in December.

Baldoni, in his own lawsuit filed in January, insisted Lively “falsely” accused him in an attempt to repair her reputation amid the fallout around the movie’s press tour after the actress took control of the film. Baldoni’s legal team claimed Lively had no evidence of a deliberate smear campaign and instead worked to repair her reputation by accusing the actor and others of sexual harassment.

Both sides have denied the allegations they are accused of.

Lively and Baldoni’s attorneys were in court Monday to discuss what can and cannot be said to the public on behalf of their clients. A judge ordered the stars’ legal teams to follow the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, which limit speaking to the press. Neither party will be allowed to make statements to the press that have a “substantial likelihood” of prejudicing a jury. However, the legal teams will be allowed to defend their client in the media against publicity not created by either side.

The Trump administration’s multi-agency plan to “root out” antisemitism across U.S. college campuses received praise from students and professors as fear persists among the Jewish community.

“You see in schools like UC Berkeley, Portland or Harvard, Jewish students are being locked out of libraries, and they’re being harassed by other students,” high school junior Gregory Lyakhov said on “Fox & Friends First” Wednesday. “That’s not how I want my college experience to go, and that’s definitely not how it should be.”

Lyakhov, a Trump supporter, blamed the Biden administration for taking “no action” to address antisemitism and Hamas sympathizers terrorizing campuses during the former president’s term.

Noah Rubin, a student at the University of Pennsylvania, described witnessing “true violence” similar to what Lyakhov described.

“So I think that this executive order says we’re not going to tolerate this anymore, and it’s a very great first step.”

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on “Additional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism” last week. The directive gives all federal agencies a 60-day window to identify civil and criminal authorities available to combat antisemitism and deport anti-Jewish activists who broke any laws. 

On Monday, the Justice Department issued a press release pursuant to the order, announcing the formation of a multi-agency taskforce to combat antisemitism.

Ran Kivetz, a professor at Columbia Business School, called the probe “absolutely necessary” while weighing in on the announcement on Wednesday.

“It’s a great step. Things have gotten better above ground, so the type of riots that we saw that went on consistently at Columbia University, those types of riots and violence and [the] takeover of buildings has come down below ground…

“…This task force, which is multiagency – it’s the Department of Justice, it’s the Department of Education, other agencies – that’s a great start, a great move,” he said.

Trump’s Education Department will probe five universities for alleged antisemitism – Columbia University, Northwestern University, Portland State University, UC Berkeley and the University of Minnesota, Twin-Cities.

“Too many universities have tolerated widespread antisemitic harassment and the illegal encampments that paralyzed campus life last year, driving Jewish life and religious expression underground. The Biden Administration’s toothless resolution agreements did shamefully little to hold those institutions accountable,” Craig Trainor, the acting assistant secretary for civil rights at the Education Department, said in a statement.

Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump and mom of two, will host a new program on Fox News Channel called “My View with Lara Trump” on Saturday evenings, it was announced on Wednesday. 

Trump, 42, is married to Eric Trump and is a former Republican National Committee co-chair. She’s also been outspoken about the need for improved health in America. 

In an on-camera interview a few days ago with Fox News Digital, she said she’s “like a lot of parents out there today” in terms of being concerned about the health and well-being of her young children. (See the video at the top of this article.)

“Whenever you go to the grocery store or whenever you prepare food for your children, you really wonder, what is it that you’re feeding them? And you hear so much about the fact that we in the United States don’t have the same standards as other countries.”

Trump said she believes this is a “big aspect” of why so many people in this country are supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as HHS secretary in the Trump administration. 

“I think that people want transparency. We want the truth. We want honesty,” she said.

“And we want to know that the food we’re giving our kids is actually going to make them healthier and not make them sicker.”

Trump said she feels that as “an American, it’s very concerning whenever you think about the fact that we are the richest country in the world. We have the most resources at our fingertips.”

And “yet, for some reason,” she went on, “our population continues to get sicker and people are starting to die earlier. That is very concerning as well.” 

She went on, “You always want the future generation to live longer and have a better life than you. And it’s kind of concerning to a lot of moms, myself included, that right now it almost doesn’t feel like we can say that.”

Trump stressed that America’s parents want their children to learn to make “healthy choices” for themselves. 

“We all do the best we can,” she said — “especially when dad comes and takes the kids for ice cream, you know, in the middle of the afternoon, right before dinner,” she added playfully. 

The sedentary lifestyle, she said, “does lend itself to being sick down the road.”

Trump added that she wants her children to “appreciate [the idea of] moving their bodies.”

“They are both in a certain number of sports,” she noted. 

“They both enjoy being outside. And that’s something that I’m lucky I can prioritize living in Florida — that my kids are moving constantly.” 

Lara Trump shared that exercise is an important part of her daily routine. “I’m trying to make sure that as a mom, I am leading by example,” she said.

“I try to expose my kids to that as much as I can and hope that they pick up on it, and that one day they’ll choose it for themselves when they have the ability to decide what it is they want to do.”

Of her children, who are now 7 and 5, Trump said, “They’re enjoying all their sports right now. Jujitsu, basketball, football, gymnastics. They’re having a great time.”

Born and raised in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, Trump shared a memory of how her own parents, “who are both still very healthy and active,” set a strong example.

“When I was younger, before dinner, my dad would actually say, ‘All right, we’ve got a choice. You can either do pull-ups, you can do push-ups, or you can climb the rope’ — which went three stories up to the top of our house and back down, probably to the horror of my neighbors,” she added with a laugh. 

“That’s how I grew up,” she told Fox News Digital. “It has obviously meant that I’ve continued to lead an active lifestyle throughout my entire life — and it makes me feel good. It keeps me healthy and hopefully keeps me looking good as well, as long as possible.”

Regarding RFK Jr.’s push for healthier foods in America, Lara Trump mentioned some of the unhealthy additives in today’s foods.

“There are things like high-fructose corn syrup, plus the seed oils that are often talked about … in terms of their unhealthiness for us.”

“I really hope that we have some level of transparency in this administration, and I think we will.”

Said Trump about her growing-up experiences in North Carolina, “It’s a small town. And because of that, I really think that I got to be a kid for much longer than maybe other people. And I think of it a lot now for my own children.”

She said, “Whether it’s the iPads, the devices, whatever it is — our kids are really exposed to so much now, more so than I think we’ve ever seen in the history of this country. And they grow up so fast.”

Renée Zellweger is reflecting on her six-year hiatus from Hollywood, which opened up the opportunity to “get healthy.”

Zellweger, who found fame starring in movies like “Jerry Maguire” and “Cold Mountain,” was featured on the cover of British Vogue’s February 2025 issue and explained that there was one specific reason she decided to leave the spotlight in 2010.

“Because I needed to. I was sick of the sound of my own voice.”

“When I was working, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?’ It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences,” she told the outlet.

Prior to her return to Hollywood in 2016, Zellweger “wrote music and studied international law.”

She also “built a house, rescued a pair of older doggies, created a partnership that led to a production company, advocated for and fundraised with a sick friend and spent alot of time with family and godchildren and driving across the country with the dogs.”

“I got healthy,” Zellweger explained.

The “Bridget Jones’s Diary” star was asked if she got a do-over if she would ever get into acting in the first place. Zellweger said, “I’m not sure that the way that it works now, celebrity and all of that stuff, I don’t know that that suits me.”

She believes “there used to be a line between celebrity and art” in Hollywood. Now, 25 years later, Zellweger says it “has become increasingly ambiguous.”

“And ‘notorious’ and ‘famous’ and ‘known’ are now all the same thing. It used to be that you were known because you had done something that was worth knowing about,” she continued. 

In 2019, Zellweger told Fox News Digital what brought her back to the acting world.

“I want to play. I wanted to play. Since returning to acting, Zellweger won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her role in the biopic “Judy,” which debuted in 2019 and focused on Judy Garland’s life. 

When asked how she managed to completely channel the late Garland in the Rupert Gold-directed adaptation of the Oliver-and-Tony Award-nominated stage show “End of the Rainbow,” the Academy Award-winning actress paused to think about Garland’s life and talent before explaining her goal in presenting what hasn’t been shown about the iconic performer. 

“I approached it really humbly with curiosity and lifelong admiration – awe, really,” Zellweger told Fox News Digital at the time. “And I just wanted to learn as much as I could and read between the lines because I think that a lot of what we sort of address in the film has gone unaddressed or not.”

The “Jerry McGuire” actress continued. “It’s just what isn’t in the article that was written about her. What’d they leave out? What are the extenuating circumstances that nobody wants to talk about? What’s happening in the private moments? And so I just – I sat with all of the facts and all of the sort of linear history of this period in her life, and I tried to understand from my own personal experiences and everything else that I read and what was missing in the telling of this part of the story of this part of her life.”

“But again, just I wanted to be careful because I, like generations of people, I have loved her a lifetime. And so it’s just a special experience it was thought to be able to live in that exploration for a couple of years.” 

Back in 2016, when the actress decided to return to Hollywood, she told Vogue that she was able to have “life experiences” while being out of the limelight. 

“I found anonymity, so I could have exchanges with people on a human level and be seen and heard, not be defined by this image that precedes me when I walk into a room,” she told the outlet at the time. “You cannot be a good storyteller if you don’t have life experiences, and you can’t relate to people.”

Turning down job opportunities was a bit difficult for Zellweger – at first. 

“As a creative person, saying no to that wonderful once-in-a-lifetime project is hard. But I was fatigued and wasn’t taking the time I needed to recover between projects, and it caught up with me. I got sick of the sound of my own voice: it was time to go away and grow up a bit,” she explained. 

The star’s latest project is “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.” The film is set to debut on Valentine’s Day.

The fourth installment of the Bridget Jones series also stars “White Lotus” actor, Leo Woodall. On Jan. 22, Woodall spoke about working with Zellweger on “The Morning Show.”

“She’s just a wonder. She’s truly one of the nicest people in the world and I think fans of Bridget are going to be very, very pleased. It’s got all the lovely Bridget-tisms that we love and it’s an incredible movie.”

FIRST ON FOX: Freshman GOP Congressman Abe Hamadeh has introduced his first piece of legislation as a lawmaker aimed at combating the Chinese communist government’s influence in the halls of Congress. 

Hamadeh, who was sworn in to represent Arizona’s 8th Congressional District in Congress last month, introduced a bill that would prohibit China Daily and other CCP-backed publications from House facilities and spoke to Fox News Digital about his reasoning for the move. 

“The first day I came into my office, I looked and I had a bunch of newspapers on my desk from the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and included in it was The China Daily,” Hamadeh told Fox News Digital. “And, you know, I’m looking at it like, ‘Why do we get the China Daily?’ And after researching it, we discovered that this was a Chinese communist owned newspaper that’s a registered foreign agent.”

“And I just find it unacceptable that it’s being passed around the halls of Congress for free, using our internal mail system, using third parties to pass out the propaganda. So, honestly, it was my first welcome to Congress and that’s kind of why I think I honed in on it to be my first piece of legislation because I don’t think we should have foreign propaganda in the halls of Congress.”

The legislation would call on the Chief Administrative Officer of the House to immediately cease the distribution of CCP state-run media material and restrict the spread of the materials on House email while still allowing members to maintain private access if they wish.

Hamadeh told Fox News Digital that the “reason why the Chinese are doing it is because they know that they can influence members of Congress, they can influence their staff.”

“You see on Capitol Hill, it’s filled with a lot of young staffers who are energetic, but they may not know that this publication is owned by a foreign adversary of ours,” Hamadeh said. “

So, you know, the communist Chinese, it’s information warfare that they’re conducting on us, psychological operations and there’s a reason why they’re passing it out for free. They’re trying to influence the highest echelons of the United States government and it’s unacceptable.”

China Daily has drawn the ire of conservatives over the last few years, including criticism from then GO Sen. Marco Rubio, who is now Trump’s Secretary of State, who last year called on mainstream media CEOs to sever ties with the English-language newspaper owned by the CCP.

Rubio said China Daily’s goal is to “subvert U.S. news media by amplifying the goals and ambitions of the party.” The outlet has published several articles claiming the U.S.’s “anti-China” reporting on the persecution of Xinjiang Uyghurs is an “outright lie.”

“I want to get a vote on the record to see what other members of Congress, how they feel about a foreign publication like the China Daily being passed to their offices,” Hamadeh told Fox News Digital. “Nobody is saying that they don’t have to read the China Daily if they want to read it on their own privately, if they want to pay for a subscription, that’s fine. But to have it passed around through taxpayer dollars is unacceptable and to have them pass it around using our resources is unacceptable.”

Hamadeh told Fox News Digital he hopes to have bipartisan support for his bill to rid Congress of “foreign propaganda.”

“Remember what Joe Biden was so focused on, he got rid of the New York Post at the White House, one of the oldest newspapers in existence in the United States,” Hamadeh said. “He got rid of The New York Post. And yet here we are allowing the China Daily to freely operate in the halls of Congress. It’s unacceptable.”

“We understand that communist China is a threat. I understand it very well in Arizona. My district has all the Taiwanese companies moving into the district away from the sphere of China’s influence for a reason. So, you know, this is a start. There is obviously legislation out there that people are doing at a state level and even at the federal level. Some of them are trying to ban the ability for the communist Chinese to buy our farmlands and to buy land near our key assets like military bases. This is common sense, and that’s why I’m introducing it, because it should be an easy it should be an easy resolution to pass.”

Every February 6, America celebrates the birthday of President Ronald Reagan — a president whose optimism, eloquence and unwavering love for his country defined an era. We not only loved him, we loved ourselves and who we were as Americans when he was president. He made us patriotic and proud, courageous and optimistic, and gave deep meaning to our values as we shone the torch of freedom all over the world under his leadership, inviting others to follow. And they did. 

We miss Reagan and have missed those feelings of pride and optimism in America these past few years. But since January 20, it feels like Morning in America Again and as the sun is rising on the second term of President Donald Trump, there are similar emotions being evoked. Americans are celebrating. 

Having worked for both presidents, I know well that Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump are two very different men with vastly different leadership styles, yet they share one love for America. And Americans. All Americans. 

TRUMP SIGNS ‘NO MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS’ EXECUTIVE ORDER

Reagan and Trump hail from very different worlds, but both wound up in the Oval Office – something that could only happen in America. Reagan was born into poverty in small-town Illinois, working his way up as a radio announcer, Hollywood actor, president of the Screen Actors Guild, and then governor of California, before becoming president. He understood the struggles of ordinary Americans because he had lived them.  

Trump, by contrast, was raised in wealth and built his empire through real estate, doing so by working alongside the very people who build, make and fix America — like architects, concrete layers, plumbers, electricians and housekeepers. His work and his wealth did not insulate him from everyday Americans; it immersed him in their world and exposed him to their problems. And he saw that he could fix those problems.  

Both men knew the heart and soul of this nation and loved and respected its hardworking, everyday people. 

Another key similarity is their priority to communicating directly with the American public. Reagan did it through fireside chats, weekly radio addresses and Oval Office speeches to connect with Americans. His voice, warm and reassuring, instilled confidence and hope, and provided a vision for a better future which he invited us to create together.  

Trump, by contrast, has leveraged the tools of today to communicate – Twitter / X, Truth Social, TikTok, impromptu and formal press interactions, inviting cameras and reporters into the Oval Office – all to help him reach millions of Americans instantly and unfiltered. His transparency and accessibility are unprecedented, ensuring Americans always know what he is promising – and what he is delivering. 

While their methods were different, both presidents had a shared goal of bypassing the traditional gatekeepers in the media to speak directly to the American people and were beloved and trusted because of it. 

Reagan originally coined the phrase “Make America Great Again,” – and he delivered on it. After four years of malaise under President Jimmy Carter, Reagan reinvigorated a declining America, restoring it to its domestic greatness and international respect.  

Similarly, Trump adopted that MAGA language and made it central to his own presidential campaigns, with the 2024 campaign in particular, echoing decline under President Joe Biden which was reminiscent of America in 1980 under Carter. Both Reagan and Trump shared a vision of restoring American prosperity, strength and pride – wanting Americans to be proud of themselves and their nation again.

Trump has also embraced Reagan’s philosophy of “peace through strength,” advocating for a strong military and bold foreign policy to ensure America remains the dominant global power. This is done through strong words, bold action and the resources to ensure success. Rather than capitulating to America’s enemies, through American strength, clarity and resolve, both presidents believed we can avoid conflict from ever starting by taking a strong posture at the outset as a deterrent and being willing to take assertive, decisive action when needed. 

Reagan was a unifier, his messages were always wrapped in affable, patriotic optimism. Trump, with his fighter’s instinct, has been seen as more divisive, but this toughness is precisely what Americans voted for and have come to admire in him. Reagan led in a different era, with a media environment that was far less hostile and wasn’t 24/7. Trump’s presidency has been forged in an era of hyper-partisanship and relentless opposition, requiring a different kind of leadership, one which Trump embodies. 

The story of Reagan’s life, leadership and legacy has already been written, though history will continue to examine and judge it. His words and his actions will continue to stand up to scrutiny and reveal the heart of a man who loved America, loved Americans, and inspired the nation and changed the world. That is how he is remembered today and will continue to be. 

Reagan made America believe in itself again and today Trump is fighting to restore that belief in Americans again. Trump has the unique opportunity to take the best of Reagan — his ability to inspire, unite and elevate American greatness — and combine it with his own fearless approach.

An El Salvador man wanted for sex crimes involving a minor in his home country was detained in Philadelphia by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE removed Francisco Javier Melendez Torres, who was wanted by law enforcement in El Salvador for aggravated rape of a minor and sexual harassment, on Jan. 31. He entered the United States illegally and had a final order of removal issued in December 2024.

“The removal of Francisco Javier Melendez Torres, a dangerous criminal alien wanted for aggravated rape of a minor in El Salvador, highlights the dangers individuals like him pose to our communities,” said Brian McShane, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations acting Philadelphia field office director.

McShane said ICE is “committed to ensuring that dangerous individuals like Melendez Torres do not find safe harbor” in the U.S. or threaten American citizens.

ICE SCOOPS UP ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WITH MURDER, ROBBERY CONVICTIONS IN WEEKEND CRACKDOWN

Melendez Torres was first arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on Feb. 5, 1986, near Rio Grande, Texas. He was served with an order to show cause and notice of hearing, charging inadmissibility, according to ICE Philadelphia. He was released the same day on an order of recognizance.

He was granted voluntary departure on Nov. 17, 1986, by an immigration judge in Harlingen, Texas, and was required to return to El Salvador by Dec. 29, 1986. 

He was deported once he failed to leave by that date.

ICE REMOVES ‘FOREIGN FUGITIVE’ WANTED IN MEXICO ON RAPE CHARGE

At some point, Melendez Torres returned to the U.S. and was convicted of driving while impaired in Hempstead, New York, on Sept. 12, 1994. The court sentenced him to five days in jail.

He left the U.S. again at an unknown date, and returned without inspection or parole by an immigration official.

He was convicted in Hempstead, New York, again, of disorderly conduct on April 30, 2014, and was sentenced to time served.

ICE arrested him in Levittown, New York, on Oct. 25, 2024, during “a targeted enforcement action” and served him with a notice to appear, charging inadmissibility.

An immigration judge in Elizabeth, New Jersey, ordered him to be removed on Dec. 12, 2024. 

He remained in the U.S. until ICE Philadelphia scooped him up on Jan. 31.

A Texas school district sent parents a letter Wednesday warning that Border Patrol agents may be boarding school buses and their children may be detained or deported.

The letter, which was also posted to Facebook but later deleted, warned that U.S. Border Patrol agents would possibly be boarding the school buses used for extracurricular activities at highway checkpoints and asking to see proof of legal citizenship.

“We want to bring to your attention an important matter regarding student travel for extracurricular activities, including sports, band, and other co-curricular events,” Alice Independent School District Superintendent Anysia Trevino wrote in the letter. “We have received information that U.S. Border Patrol agents may be boarding school buses at highway checkpoints in and out of the Valley to question students about their citizenship status.”

The letter stated the ramifications if the student could not produce proper identification or documentation and went on to warn that if a student lies about their immigration status it could hinder them getting U.S. citizenship in the future.

“We strongly encourage families to be aware of the potential implications of these encounters. If a student is found to be without proper documentation, they may be removed from the bus, detained, and possibly deported under current immigration policies. Additionally, if a student provides false information regarding their citizenship, and it is later discovered, this could result in a permanent bar to future U.S. citizenship.” 

Federal immigration law currently states that an individual that lies about being a U.S. citizen may be disqualified from receiving a green card or U.S. citizenship.

SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE BRACE FOR TRUMP, INCLUDING MEASURES COMPELLING TEACHERS NOT TO COOPERATE WITH ICE

The superintendent did advise she was looking at ways to add measures to lessen the impact and stated that any parent with concerns should reach out.

“To ensure that families are fully informed, we are reviewing our student travel waivers and may include language advising parents of this possibility,” the letter read.

“Furthermore, we are considering additional measures, such as having a designated chaperone vehicle travel with school buses. In the event that a student is detained, a school administrator in the chaperone vehicle would be able to stay with the student while the rest of the group continues their journey.”

This is not the first school district to address the change in immigration policies.  West Oso ISD recently sent out a letter to its parents warning them of the change in policy and informing them of the procedures for its schools.

“I want to take a moment to address recent changes to immigration policies and how they may impact our District. Recently, the Department of Homeland Security reversed a policy that had previously limited Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests at sensitive locations such as schools, hospitals, and places of worship,” it read.

The letter went on to say that they welcome all students regardless of their citizenship status.

“WOISD does not ask for, collect, or maintain any information regarding immigration status, as it is not relevant to our mission of serving students. Like any other law enforcement agency, ICE must check in, show identification, and present proper documentation before taking any action on our campuses. Should ICE execute a warrant at one of our schools, we will promptly notify parents,” the letter stated.

A statement released in January by a DHS spokesperson clarified that Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman issued two directives empowering law enforcement to protect Americans.

The first of those directives rescinds the Biden Administration’s guidelines for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enforcement actions that thwart law enforcement in or near so-called “sensitive” areas.

“This action empowers the brave men and women in CBP and ICE to enforce our immigration laws and catch criminals including murderers and rapists who have illegally come into our country. Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid arrest. The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement, and instead trusts them to use common sense.”

This action now allows law enforcement to enter schools, medical facilities, and places of worship to arrest undocumented immigrants. It also allows ICE agents to operate at events that had previously been protected under the policy, including weddings, funerals, and public demonstrations.
