Gujarat high court issued summons to BJP MP Mukesh Dalal from Surat over two petitions challenging his uncontested victory. The petitions filed by four Congress members questioned the rejection of Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani’s nomination. The court directed Dalal to respond by August 9. The legality and validity of the returning officer’s decision were under scrutiny.
