The BJP-led Assam cabinet has accepted most recommendations from a commission to safeguard Assamese people’s rights, including land rights restrictions and reserving 80% of assembly seats for Assamese people. The state aims to implement these by April next year, with further consultations planned for the remaining suggestions.
