Unseasonal rain in Perth has put a damper on traditional Test match pitch preparation at Optus Stadium. Curator Isaac McDonald says the rain will prevent the usual cracks from forming, but the pitch will still offer variable bounce due to the grass left on the wicket. The first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy begins on November 22.
