Tiger reserves in India are using ‘smart scarecrows’ called Aniders to deter wildlife from entering human habitations and reduce conflicts. These devices emit loud noises and strong lights to repel animals. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh is the first in the state to deploy Aniders, and early results show no further animal movements reported in monitored villages.
