The Joint Parliamentary Committee studying the Waqf (Amendment) Bill will recommend that the ‘Limitation Act’ apply to property claims in ‘waqf’ from the day the new law is enacted, to prevent adverse possession claims. They will also recommend measures to protect tribal lands from being declared as ‘waqf land’. The report will be adopted on Wednesday.
