Toyota has decided to end its sponsorship of cultural events like LGBTQ+ Pride in the US, citing the politicised debate around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programmes. This follows criticism from right-wing commentator Robby Starbuck, who opposes DEI initiatives. Toyota joins other companies, including Ford and Harley-Davidson, in reducing DEI efforts, despite research showing consumers, especially Gen Z, favour brands supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
