ASI statement sparks mandir-masjid row

A new controversy arose in Madhya Pradesh over the ancient Vijay Surya Mandir in Vidisha, managed by the ASI. Hindu groups sought permission to hold puja inside the site on August 9, but ASI cited a 1951 notification classifying it as the ‘Bijamandal Mosque.’ The permission was denied, causing outrage among Hindu groups.
