Centre names CJs for eight high courts, day after Supreme Court prod

Centre Saturday cleared SC collegium’s recommendations and appointed CJs for eight HCs, just a day after SC sought explanation from it for the delay. It also appointed Jharkhand HC CJ, for which the state had moved a contempt plea against the Centre. President signed warrants of appointment for CJs of Delhi, MP, Meghalaya, Himachal, Kerala, Madras, J&K, Ladakh & Jharkhand.
