Government to identify areas where only ‘Assamese’ can own land

The Assam government has approved 57 recommendations from the Justice Biplab Sarma Commission aimed at protecting indigenous Assamese people. These include restricting land ownership in specific revenue circles to Assamese individuals and issuing land documents to long-term occupants. The state plans to complete these implementations by April 15 next year.
