Law banning ‘triple talaq’ enacted as SC verdict non-deterrent: Centre

The Union government informed the Supreme Court that the 2017 ruling against ‘triple talaq’ wasn’t a sufficient deterrent. Hence, Parliament enacted a law in 2019 to criminalize the practice, aiming to protect the dignity and rights of married Muslim women.
