MD Abbas has been sentenced to death by the Siliguri Court for raping and murdering a minor. Arrested by Special Operations Group and Matigara Police, he faced trial since January. The judge convicted him on Wednesday, with additional sentences including seven years in prison and Rs 10 lakh compensation to the victim’s family.
The highways ministry plans to introduce annual and life-time passes for private cars, allowing unlimited travel on NHs with a one-time toll payment.
