‘Stripped, beaten’: Now, 9 U’khand women captive in Myanmar forced to work in ‘scam call centres’

Nine women from Uttarakhand were abducted in Thailand and taken to Myanmar for forced work in cyber-crime hubs. Family members reported brutal torture and threats of sexual assault. Efforts are underway to rescue these women and other victims. The Indian government recently secured the release of 11 citizens from similar conditions in Myanmar.
